Does anyone know how to get your credit scores without lowering your credit scores?
I'm trying to get a loan and everyone wants to run a credit check which I have always heard will lower my credit score. Is that true and if so is there a way to check my credit without lowering my score?

Hi there, there is this website that doesn't hurt it all. I work as a processor for a bank. Trust me I know.
www.privacyguard.com
It's only $1.00 to pull your credit!
Good Luck! =)

It is true, however it is usually five-six hits over the course of 2-3 months that affects the score. Have one person pull your credit and once you hear what they have to say let everyone else who is competing for your loan know what info is on there. Do not authorize them to pull it. Also, if you pull the report yourself it does not affect your score, but most companies want to pull their own score.

If you have a bunch of credit checks, it will show up on your report - I don't think it lowers your score. I would just apply for one loan, the one you most want, to see how you score. Or I think you can contact the credit agencies directly to get a copy of your credit report.

wildflower
it is true. too many inquiries will affect your credit, especially if they run it too many times within a month. u can make copies of your credit report and provide that to them. that way they dont have to run it...

you can get your credit report free at www.annual credit report.com. Yes it does affect your credit when people pull your credit report too much.

Laurellamags
it only lowers 3 points I believe, but getting that loan will add more debt, which will also lower your score. To bring it up, you'd have to pay more than the minimum on every account you have, maybe 1 day before the due date, and one day after the due date.

There are two types of pulls: hard and soft. Hard pulls affect your credit (although not a great deal); soft pulls do not. When you pull your own credit, that's a soft pull, while creditors will usually do a hard pull when deciding whether to extend your credit.

You might pull your credit yourself, shop it around, and find a creditor who will extend credit based on that number (after verifying it, of course), then you might be able to avoid lots of hard pulls.

You can get your credit reports for free once a year at annualcreditreport.com. You will have to pay if you want to see you FICO score, usually less than $10. But it will not effect your score in any way.
