Does anyone know if it is possible to get a bankruptcy removed form your credit report.?

Credit Guy
EVERY SINGLE ANSWER HERE IS WRONG.

I filed bankruptcy 2 years ago and got it removed from 2 out of 3 of my credit reports. The credit bureaus could not verify it, so they had to delete it. It's the law.

To all of the people who answered this question:

READ THE FCRA http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/031224fcra.pdf

Misinformation can really hurt people. If you are not 100% sure of your answer, you are better off not answering. Do your research!!!

Credit agencies stores information from credit grantors and public records, including bankruptcies, judgments and liens. Missed payments and most public record items remain on the credit report for seven years, with the exception of Chapter 7, 11 and 12 bankruptcies, which remain for 10 years, and unpaid tax liens, which remain for up to 15 years.

A credit bureau will not remove accurate negative information from your credit report before the legal time period has expired. Therefore, do not believe anyone who claims they can get negative information removed from your credit report faster than is legally required.

There are no "loopholes" or laws that credit repair companies can use to get correct information off your credit report.

It stays on for 10 years...you cannot get it removed. You should have considered the ramifications before you filed.

Hi, being an owner of a legitimate credit repair company, I know for a fact that ,yes you can have it removed if it does not belong to you. The credit bureaus have to correct any and all unverifiable and inaccurate information in your credit file once they have been notified. Again, if the information is wrong it can be deleted. But if it is not, you are going to be looking at it for at least 10 years. Before a person answering this question say that all the answers are wrong, he should read the whole response and not just some of it. The second sentence of my response clearly says: The credit bureaus have to correct any and all unverifiable and inaccurate information in your credit file once they have been notified.

After ten short years it will come off the report, no other way

SPIFIMAN1
Bankruptcy's show for 10-years from the date of discharge.

Accurate information can not be removed no matter what credit repair people claim.

No. It stays 7-10 years. I believe once the time is up it will disappear. You will get plenty of offers to re-establish your credit after about a year or so. I wouldn't recommend filing unless you are in over your head so much that it's literally killing you.
