go to Bank of America and get a fully secured credit card..it may start off at $300 which is your own money..but it helps your credit and teaches you to use the card wisely...plus after u pay off the $300, they take the"secured" off and its just a credit card, but with a larger amount on it. it goes up every 6-8 months if they see you can handle it. its a good way to show the bank and yourself u can be responsible, plus your credit score goes up as u pay your bills well and on time. this link will take u there. http://www.bankofamerica.com/creditcards/index.cfm?template=cc_secured

Not sure where you are so it could vary, but do a search on getting a secured credit card in your area.

You put up a deposit for the first year but it helps you to repair your credit.

Stay away from credit cards especially if you have a bad history. Many companies will offer you a card but your interest rate will be at 28% Try to get a bank loan or some other type of loan rather than a credit card. If you really need credit try some easy cards like Home Depot or Target. The interest rates will be high but it sound like you will have a problem anyhow. Put some simple, low charges on thesde cards that you know you can pay off in three to four months and for god sake dont be late. They will hit you with a $39 late charge and then they will raise your interest rate or even cancel you. They can do what they want.

Instead of a credit card, why not get a small loan at a bank. You could be a cosigner or they could be the cosigner for you. Just get a small loan, $1,000 or so and pay it off in about 4 months, then do it again. This is what my husband and I did. My dad got the loan and we signed as cosigners. In a year, we didn't need a cosigner anymore.

I went through the same thing. I went online and searched for offers. There's always adds for credit cards for people with bad credit. I got a regular card (not secured) but it has the yearly charge of like $40. I have since been able to get others. I don't go crazy, and I always pay more than the minimum. Be careful, read what your getting yourself into and keep it small so you don't get in over your head again. Good Luck and be smarter
