ravensgirl1 | Does anyone know of reputable consolidation company for credit card debt? |
I have looked online and found some names but don't know who is legit and who is going to rip me off. Anyone who has used a particular company that has been honest and helpful and has a good reputation or simply one that has worked for you or anyone else that you know would be really appreciated. I just want to do this asap so I can start making one payment instead of multiple payments and also avoid the credit card companies reporting me to the credit bureau. Thanks I would appreciate any help, so I can stop looking at names without knowing who will solve my problem as opposed to who may cause them. Thanks!! |

I would first try a non profit consumer credit counseling company...It is a much better option and it does not screw up your credit as badly... |

Consumer Credit Counseling is the best, however if you got into the debt you should be "learning" how to get out of it and how to avoid it...not just have someone else take care of it for you. Before you know it it will happen to you again if you don't learn now. No matter who you go thru though whether it be CCC or other, "that" will be noted on your credit report as well and will indicate that you can't control your finances. Which would be a bad thing if your career has anything to do with handling money or finances for someone else.
Take a look at this website: daveramsey.com
and get a second or third job and pay off that debt.
There is no way to avoid having your creditors put those things on your credit report unless you keep your credit in good shape. And, once anyithing is marked on the credit report it's on there it stays for 7 years, but every time you inquire about it the 7 year time re-starts. So when you pay those bills send the credit reporting agencies a copy of your statement which shows you've paid it.. |

with a little research, and depending on the amount of debt, you can resolve your-self. learn how to get discounts from the creditor in question... |

If your credit is bad you wont be able to get a consolidation loan. Not one that has a reasonable interest rate. If you have good credit you can go to your local bank and get a loan for the amount you owe.
Your best bet is to just write down who you owe and pay them off smallest to largest.
If you are talking about debt settlement. what these companies do is not pay your creditors for months and then try to settle your debt for less. By then your credit is trash and you have payed hundreds if not a couple of thousand dollars in fees that could have went on your debt.
Just remember this. If you let someone else handle this for you and they dont pay your creditors then you are still responsible for the debt not the company that you hire. They will sue you not the company thats taking care of it.
And, the kicker is. You wont know that they are getting ready to sue you till you get a summons to court because you are not the one talking to them. |

There is a great place to go with this. I was in a very similar situation.
This is getting help from real people without the use of banks or credit card companies. Good Luck!

It's been quite a few years, but my ex-husband and I used a company called Credit Advisors. They saved us. You might see if they are still in business. |

Listen to "heybulldog" and "Breezy365". They each offered some very realistic advice. Years ago, when I got myself in a pickle before I was married, I used CCC-Consumer Credit Counseling. They are a non-profit. You will not have to pay fees to them and they negotiate your debts with your creditors for you. This is a good organization. MANY others will just take advantage of you and get you into more trouble--you have to be very careful of some of those so-called "credit repair" advisors or (whatever they are).
If you can, try to negotiate with your creditors on your own. Sometimes they will lower your interest rate just if you ask. They can lower your payments sometimes too.
Wells Fargo also worked for us later on. We refinanced our newer (paid off) car to get a loan and we paid off our creditors. We are paying back a higher interst loan every month, but we just have the one payment and an END to our debt problem that is realistic. |

hi,why don't you get a loan from the bank. Have them pay it off and you just pay the bank. its much easier that way. I once used a debt consolidation co but forgot the name.going to a debt consolidation place may not be benefitial. honestly. |

In the state where I live we have a dept. of the state called the "Family service agency" and in that is "Consumer credit counseling services" which is a non-profit organization. I was looking for their number in the phone book and when I called, I reached a Co. in New York and they wanted lots of money so I knew that wasn't the one. If you can find one that is non-profit, that is the only way to go. My friends used one called "Genus" or something like that and they are legit too. |
