Wescot are normally fairly aggresive if you don't pay, they will chase you, and are quite happy to take court action against you, leaving you with a CCJ.
They are however fairly reasonable at working out a payment plan with you, and do give you a chance to make realistic monthly payments, as low as £10 a month, unlike many other debt collectors.
Don't not pay, it will only cause you a whole heap of trouble, and you won't get away with it. Much better to give them a ring and set up a payment plan that you can afford. Once you have agreed a payment plan its vital that you stick to it, otherwise they can withdraw the plan and ask for the whole debt in one go. They are usually ok if you miss a monthly payment, as long as you don't do it frequently. |

Have any of you thought of sending Wescot a CCA request for your debt?
Basically this invloves sending them a letter demanding a copy of the origional signed credit agreement signed by you upon the commencment of the loan.
If Wescot cannot find it, you do not owe the cash!!
Plus while they are looking for it it puts the account "in dispute" and they cannot collect.

I have just posted a question about this company (under Law and Ethics, "How can I stop a Debt recovery action with a repayment plan in place?")
Wescot are being used by the Nat West bank to recover a loan that we are challenging as being mis-sold.
My daughter suffers from depression and is also a self harmer and despite my pleas and putting a plan in place with the bank they seem unstoppable. If as they are suggesting they will show up at my daughters this will be devastating for her. I do hope it will not come to that judging by some of the replies. |

I was just about to point out what the guy directly above has.
Go to the consumer action group for advice.
Use the cca request to delay and maybe even defeat them.
I'm doing it with about ten debts and it looks like they'll all be gone soon! |

nightmare company, very threatning. had my wife in tears over my dads debts who had passed away recently & had nothing to do with us. we are in the middle of a court battle we are suing them for the way their door person behaved. debts have been cleered. but very nasty once on your door. & they dont follow the law. |
