Does disputing an unauthorized charge in your credit card affect your credit score?
I heard from someone that disputing a credit card charge affect one's credit score score. Is this true?
Can you provide a website where I can get more information about this?

No, it sure doesn't. But if you go to annualcreditreport.com, you can view all three of your credit reports from the major agencies for free once a year. On each website, there's contact information and a FAQ that should help ease your mind!

Goodluck!

That would make no sense at all. If the charge is an unauthorized one, then something fraudulent has occurred and it isn't your fault. If you can prove that the signature, or other verification required to make a purchase happened without your knowledge or consent, best I understand it, you are going to be off the hook. Now, if your little brother or sister "borrowed" your card and used it to run up some purchases, you might just have a little problem convincing the Credit Card Company that you aren't trying to pull some sort of a "no-pay" scam on them, lol.

You should order your credit report (Equifax, TRW?--you can find the address in the phone book, on-line (better to have them mail to you and write to them with SS#, name and address, sign.
The credit report is responsible for the right ratings so you can clear it up to bring your score up. Also, when you have money and credit that can be clear up to get that property you desire.

In other words there is always something to help you.

I have done it, and the answer is absolutely not, at least if the amount is under, say $100, which is what I have multiple experience with.

no, not at all, they WANT to know....your card has it's own site, it should be right on the card somewhere.....or call the 800 #, I know it doesn't though, I have been through it and they were very helpfull and reversed the charge and even found out who put it on my card.....(ex boyfriend)......!!!

Pauly
No, it will not effect your credit score. The only time it would effect it is if it was found to be a legit use of the credit card and you still decided not to pay it.

No. If there have been wrong entries in your credit report by an unauthorized charge that the credit card company is aware of agrees with, it is their responsibility to correct the change.

Its best to get the confirming information from your credit card company.

no it does not. but it will be a "case" on your file. to prevent fraud in the future.
