I'm about to start looking for a new vehicle and also a new apartment. I've heard that when your credit report is looked up, this brings it down. I may be dumb for asking this question, but I'm probably about to have it checked several times within the next few days. It's already low enough, so I just want to make sure if this is true or not. |

It is true that when you apply for credit and the lender pulls your credit it cost you 3-5 points.
The good thing is that when you are looking for a vehicle or a home every inquiry within a 14-day period only counts as one. They all show on your bureau but you only get dinged once. |

Usually 5-10 points per inquiry, but if you are applying for something like a mortgage or a car loan all the inquiries in the next week or two will count as one inquiry. |

yes it does it makes you look like a high credit risk, the more inquiries there are the worse it is, be very selective in allowing companies to check your report, i wold only do so if i am really sure that i am going to get the credit extended that i am looking for |

If YOU are checking your own credit score, no. It does not have an impact on the score. However, your score will lower if anyone else outside of you checks it. That is called an inquiry and those do lower the score. The best way to handle that is to contact all three credit reporting agencies and get the inquiries off. The credit world banks on people not having the time to do this, but it is definitely in your best interest. In fact, I have to do that myself...anyway, Good Luck! |
