There is NO way to make your credit look good FAST! It takes time to build a great credit rating. The only way to do that is to pay your bills ahead of time (do not wait til they are due) constantly.
One thing you can do is go to a bank and borrow (for the sake of argu say $500.00 ( I did this many years ago). I took the money and put it into another bank (savings acct). After 60 days I took the $500 and paid it back to the 1st bank. I then borrowed again from the 2nd bank and paid them back the same. I did that three times and in the acct of the last bank I had a small amount of interest but a GREAT CREDIT RATING. |

Paying utility bills doesn't help your credit. Not paying on time will affect your credit.
It takes time to mess up your credit, and just as much time to build it up. Paying credit card bills timely will do it. |

It will help you look good with the utility company so if you move to another city you will have a better chance of getting utilities without a deposit. As far as building credit to buy a house, get a credit card, etc., I wouldn't think it would make a difference.
You can't make your credit look good fast. That takes time. And once it gets bad, it can take a long time to heal. If you are looking to build credit, you will have to get a loan or credit card and pay it off. Pay more than the minimum, and pay it off early. Don't carry large balances on credit cards for long periods of time. Don't get too many credit cards either. Once you get your credit established, you get more 'pre-approved' offers than you need.
Good luck. |

I don't think paying your utility bill with a check will improve your credit drastically. That's something that you have to pay every month. But, if you pay your credit card and or loans on time than that should boost it up. |

Paying your bills on time does help your credit however its not going to wrack up points over night. Building up your credit takes time and a ton of effort. You have to be current and up to date on payments. Sorry theres really no fast way to make your credit score high really fast just keep working on it and before you know it youll be up in the high 700. Also if you have any collections on your credit report pay them off so they can pull them off that will help your credit in a big way.

NO. Utility bills do not build a credit history. They can destroy it if you fail to pay them. |

The utility company is not loaning you money, so there is no debt, so there is no credit. Credit bureaus maintain CREDIT history. |

My sister needed to improve her credit, and her bank suggested that she take a loan and use her savings as collateral, then pay off the loan as quickly as possible and keep repeating the process. So she took a $500.00 loan, put it in her savings account and used it to pay, I know it sounds silly because you have the interest, but she's a homeowner today because of that process. Her credit was really bad. Talk to your bank about that. Just a suggestion! |
