be careful as you are giving personal information out, but it kinda sounds like he needs a day or two in order to go through the process through his company account and is explaining why he can't meet and pay you "today" ... if he has no intentions of picking up the item until you have your cash, then I would say "go for it" ... maybe ask him to expedite the money order (since that is what he calls it at first) so you don't have to keep the item on hold from other potential buyers ... then take it to his bank (if it is not a money order) or another (if it is a standard money order) and cash it immediately, do not deposit it - cash it ... then make the exchange ... |

Definitely sounds like a scam, you'll give them whatever it is you're selling then in a few weeks you will be notified that the money order was false/stolen and you will be forced to pay back every single penny whilst this poo head scammer is home free with your car or whatever it is you're selling! I got loads of these when I sold my first car! The scheming little so and sos! |

Sounds fishy. A money order and a check are not the same thing. Refuse the company check. Request a postal money order -- postal money orders can be cashed at the post office.
Usually Craigslist are local puchases. Is this someone from another country or some distance? Is the payment more than the asking price and you're suppose to wire the difference some where? All those would be signs of a scam. |

It is a total scam. Go ahead and have them send you the fake money order, do not take your ad off. They will usually press you to take it off. That way, if it does look legit when you get it, you can finish the deal. Usually scammers send fake certified checks, not money orders. And he says money order in one spot and company check in the next sentence!!!!
I have seen where people cash a fake check and then several days later the bank finds out that it is fake. Be very careful with this type of transactio. |
