Mr X | Ebay payment question? |
I'm new to ebay, and have just bought something for £30, plus postage of £5. I put through the payment a couple of days ago for £35 via paypal.
The seller is saying they've received the £30 but not the £5 postage fee. I've checked paypal and my bank, and £35 has definitely gone out. Paypal also sent me an email receipt confirming this.
I'm unsure what to do next if the seller doesn't receive the postage costs. Any hints or ideas? |

Contact your seller again as he/she has clearly made a mistake. If you've sent £35 and have confirmation, then the seller received £35 (less PayPal transaction fees).
Be careful though, some sellers are scammers who will ask for a copy of your PayPal details. DON'T SEND THEM! All the seller needs at most is the PayPal unique transaction I.D. number. You can also ask the seller to confirm the transaction I.D. number that he/she is referring to. Sometimes sellers have a lot of the same product/price going out and it's possible to confuse customer A with customer B.
Be polite, calm and patient with your seller in the same way you'd want them to be with you if the error was at your end. Don't make threats but do stick to your guns. Ultimately, if the seller doesn't come good then you can raise a dispute with PayPal but I'd recommend that you only do so if the seller ignores your messages or maintains that the payment was short. |

The full amount should have been transfered to the seller. If I were you, because this sounds very, very odd, I would contact paypal AND ebay and inquire about it.
To me it sounds like the seller has maybe underestimated the shipping and is now hoping to squeeze more money out of you. If they messed up, it's their fault, and they should take the loss.
Don't send any more cash until you have had them checked out by both ebay and paypal.
Good luck! |

When you pay somebody 35 pounds on PayPal, it costs you 35 pounds, but the seller only receives (approximately) 32 pounds- that's how PayPal makes its money.
*However* that is part and parcel of the usage of PayPal on eBay, and something that the seller should know, and has to accept. As long as you've paid 35, then you have paid in full, and if the seller didn't realise they would only get 32 then that is the seller's problem. You have sent your payment in full and the seller should now post the item.
You should have had an e-mail from PayPal as a receipt for the payment- forward that e-mail to the seller. |

You will have sent the £35.00 in one payment ... if the seller acknowledges receipt of some of the money he has to acknowledge receipt of all of it. It's a matter of record so email the seller saying as much and quote your paypal receipt number, see how it goes before invoking a complaints procedure ... don't get into a dialogue, he's wrong and you're right. Also make sure you don't give out any other details of your paypal account. Paypal are increasingly coming under fire for poor service although I haven't had any problems ... YET. |

Do not give the seller any more information about yourself or any of your account details.
Explain that you have paid the full amount and have a receipt for this payment and suggest that he takes this matter up with pay pal himself.
If the seller is unwilling to post the item you purchased then ask for a total refund.
He can sort it out without involving you.
You must ask for a refund if he causes any problems, and after 7 days you are able to start a dispute against the seller via ebay and pay pal to get all of your money back.
In the meantime just email him every day and ask for the goods or your money back until you feel satisfied. |

Copy and paste your payment info from paypal into an email and send it to him...ask him to do the same. If you sent it all together, there is no way he did not get it. |

Well through bitter experience with Paypal who I have now left UNLESS you are actually insured the buyer is entitled to the money and the item...paypal will go ahead and let them have it and there's not a thing you can do about it. I would NEVER deal with PAYPAL again and would advise likewise. They are so bad there is even a helpline to deal with the many many complaints against the company!!! |
