English grammar problem, pls help.?
Currently, I am attached to a bank as an credit analyst

or should it be..

Currently, i am attaching to a bank as an credit analyst

which 1 is correct or both of them are wrong.

i ask this because i always assume after "is", "are" or "am"..the "verb+ing" form must be followed.

anything wrong with my understanding?

If you're currently employed by the bank, then the first sentence would be the correct one since it describes the situation as it actually exists. The second sentence gives the impression that you're in the process of being hired by the bank. The best way to state this would be: "Currently, I am employed by [name of bank] as a credit analyst." This takes the ambiguity out of it.

Professor Chaos
Currently, I am attached to a bank as a credit analyst.

use "a" instead of "an"

Correct answer is the first line.

Attached - if you already work for the bank (past tense)
Attaching - if you are getting hired

Edit: Professor is right about the "a" instead of "an"

2nd one had a lowercase "i" which is wrong. In both you put "an" instead of "a". It would be "an" if you just put "analyst" instead of "credit analyst", this is because the word credit does not start with a vowel. Now "attached" or "attaching" depends on if you already have the job or are attempting to get it. Use the latter for attempting, the former for already doing it. Since you said "currently," I'm assuming the former. So, without further ado, here's what I think you want to say in a correct sentence:

"Currently, I am attached to a bank as a credit analyst."

If I understand the sentence correctly, it's the first one. One more thing though, it's "a" not "an" unless the next word begins with a vowel.

Currently, I am attached to a bank as a credit analyst.

:)

Currently, I am attached to a bank as an credit analyst sounds more correct. However drop the 'an' this is only used if the word after begins with a vowel.

Personally i would say 'Currently, i am emplyed at a bank as a credit analyst.

Hope this helps.

how about
working for
employed by

Gillyahoo
I would say the first.

Jacci
The first one is correct.

lukemad2003
Currently, I am attached to a bank as a credit analyst.

This is the correct version, but be sure to put 'a credit', not 'an credit'. 'An' always comes before vowels, for example, 'an elephant', 'an apple' 'an umbrella'. 'A' is used before consonants. 'A chair', 'a fridge' etc.

actually both are (almost) correct...

the1st if you already are, and the 2nd, if the action is something that's happening right then, at the moment of saying it. And, it is almost, because you have to use the article "a" credit ... and not "an"... this one is used before nouns that have a vowel sound.

Presently I am employed as A credit analyst at the (name of bank) bank. It's really attached but it doesn't go so well with the sentence since attached is a word used more for emotion.

p p
Neither one, what are you trying to say? Are you trying to say you are "employed by a bank as a credit analyst?"

feel free to e-mail me if you like.

Nathan W
it depends if your talking in past or present tense
