Eviction serious answers only?
I am currently in housing court , in an eviction process. I have tried everything under the sun to try and get the money to pay arrears but have had no luck and i am going to be evicted out of my apartment. I am trying to look for a new place to live but i just have a question. how long exactly does it take for this to come up on your credit. Does it show up the minute your sent to court or does it show up after you have been moved out of your apartment. I have been checking my credit on line for the past few weeks and it is not in there and i feel that i may have a better chance finding a new apartment before it actually shows up. PLease only serious answers, thanks!

You do realize they will get a judgment against you and garnish your wages eventually, don't you?

Try and find an Apt. ASAP and you may be lucky in that sense.

You want "serious" answers only but have you ever for one second thought about the LL's point of view?

Rick reports are updated daily, even several times a day with new information.

I've been evicted twice and hasn't ever showed up on my credit matters if they turn it over to a collection agency you can always ask to set up payment arrangements to keep it from. But if where you move does a criminal background check since it's in court it can show up there.

You have to actually have to be fully eveicted first, if you're still in the process it won't show on your credit. However, most apartments will run rental history as well and it will show there. You really should try to find something before all this is finalized, because I do know that most apartments do not work with evictions. Check out www.nationalrelocators.com it's a website we recommend for people with credit/rental blips in the past!

you still have time, your eviction will not show up on your credit report until the landlord wins the eviction...once the judge makes the decision, you might have 2 to 3 days for the paperwork to be completed. i would find a place right away and attempt to keep your rent current so you will not have a problem renting another place... once a eviction is on credit reports, you will find it very hard to rent any rental unit good luck to you

omallory_us
a judgement of default will be posted to your credit when your landlord reports it find a place in a hurry he has to either put it in for collection or take you to court for non payment ...good luck

The eviction will not appear on your credit report but the amount you owe and don't pay to the property holder can be reported to one of the three credit agencies. The property holder doesn't have to report your failure to pay but usually will send your account a collection agency and that will be reported to the credit agencies.

Try and prevent the property holder from sending your account to a collection agency but setting up a monthly payment plan.

When any of this information will appear on your credit report depends upon when it is reported to the credit agencies.

The majority of property holders have you complete an application and agree to have them run a credit check before renting to you. The application will ask whether you have ever been evicted. It is your decision whether or not to be honest on the application. I suggest you be upfront with your potential landlord and tell them about your recent problems but explain your ability to pay the rent on your new apartment (i.e. have a copy of your pay stub).

Depending on your income, you may qualify for assistance with your rent under Section 8 administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Go to www.hud.gov for more information on Section 8 Housing Vouchers.

how old are you?

Good question. I would think that it wouldn't show up until after your court date, but will show up sometime before a month is up after that (if these things show up on your credit report at all). If your landlord is a person instead of a business, you may have better luck of it not showing up at all.

Usually, the information as to your updated credit status is placed in the bureau immediately. If I were you, I would get to "rolling" right now. This will give you a head start. Nothing will be put into your credit record until the court has filed your status within its formal system. You have some time, but not much. This new stuff is done by computer now. That is why it is so "fast." I wish you well. Remember this, What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31. The Lord daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. - Psalm 68:19. When you have a moment, read Psalm 35 (Plead My Cause) - The Lord will help you with that which is known and that which is unknown. This will be of great assistance to you.
Peace, Love and God Bless.
