Do not use a credit card for a cash advance, interest is to high.
Use it for every day things be careful never to exceed 30% of your credit limit in any given month and pay in full before the due date.
Understand that the due date is the date that your payment must be posted to your account, not the date that it must be mailed by. So, if your payment is due the 15th mail no later then the 5th to allow for our mail service and processing on their end. |

dont use a credit card for cash advances. the interest rate is way too high.
If you plan on building credit, use the card, and when the bill comes in pay it off in full. Dont buy things you couldn't pay for with cash at that moment. Then put the cash aside to pay when the bill comes in. |

Keep the balance around 25% of your limit or lower
Don't use your credit card to buy a burger or something cost a couple dollars...use cash or debit card
Pay IN FULL each month...never miss a payment
NEVER use cash advance |

My advice is to join a credit union, and get their card. It has no rewards, but you will save money.
Next, for anything that you would already pay for in cash, such as gas, food from the grocery store, and other things that are required, of course you can use the card.
For items that look good to buy, if you can't afford to pay in cash, then don't buy it. That will put you in over your head. If you have the cash in savings, and were saving for that item, new hat, new shoes, new computer, then go ahead and charge it.
You will find that you are saving more money this way.
Check out Dave Ramsey's website, before you get into trouble. |

If you are trying to build up your credit, make small purchases that you can pay off IN FULL when the bill comes due. That way, you will not be wasting money on intrest payments. |

Here's my advice since I'm in debt $3000 because I was 18 and stupid with a credit card.
ONLY spend what you have in your pocket.
pay off your balance in TOTAL every month. you will be charged interest if you don't and interest builds up fast.
don't use your card for cash advances- those start charging interest the minute you take the money.
be smart with it. you want this credit card to build your credit not ruin it. |

Well, the cash advance limit is set by your credit card comapny and is different for each credit card holder. Some people with a really good credit history have a high cash advance limit while some bad credit history cardholdrs have a lesser cash advance limit. Best thing is to look at your credit card statement, and somewhere on that statement, the cash advance limit should be stated there. If you don't see it, then call and ask. Hope this helps. Good luck! |

As long as you pay it off on time every month then you won't have to pay any interest. If you spend $250, you pay $250. Until Feb 08, you have no interest even if you pay late, but you still cannot exceed your credit limit. After that your interest will kick you in the you know what if you don't pay on time. The $29 annual fee is not so horrible but I would tell them that you only want the card if they take that off, they offer it without the fee and so do hundreds of other cards so why waste the money? As far as the cash back bonuses, your best bet to avoid misleading information is to ask the Capital One rep very specific questions over the phone, and read your contract when they send it to you. Don't use cash advance, there is no point and it will eat you alive. The only thing it does is let you get money out of an ATM. The interest is higher and other stipulations apply as well. If you do need to get cash out of your card, go to Wal-Mart, buy a pack of gum and when you swipe your card and the machine asks you if you want cash back then say yes and get it that way. It will count the same as a purchase. Remember to not spend over one-third of your credit limit each month, it looks bad on your credit report. Meaning, if you have a credit limit of $600, don't spend more than $200 each month. That will help you get a higher credit limit faster, and will make you appear to be less of a liability to credit companies when considering you for other lines of credit in the future. Good luck! |

Don't use cash advances. The interest rate is far too high. The amount of the cash advance limit is dictated by your contract, but typically the interest rates are shocking. If you can just pay the bill using the card, that would be better. Notice that the 0% only applies to purchases, not cash advances.
My best advice is to use the credit card only as a convenient way to make purchases that you can pay for within the grace period, that way you never pay interest, and you build a strong credit history.
When the interest rate kicks in, call the credit card company and ask them to reduce the rate, believe it or not, sometimes they will! It doesn't hurt to ask.
Never miss a payment. They record every single transaction, and you want to have the best crdit possbile. Good luck, and kudos to you for being responsible! So many people kill their credit early and lose their ability to make major purchases like houses and cars! |

Pretty much, until February of 2008, you will be charged exactly what you spend. After that, you will be charged what you spent, plus 16.4% of the bill. You also have to pay $29 a year. Cash advance limit is the amount of cash you can withdraw at an ATM (which you dont want to do, the interest rate is higher than when you would regularly purchase something). If you used $250 before February, you pay #250. After February you would pay #291 ($250 plus $41 in interest) |
