Adell H | First credit card trying to figure out the game? |
Im about to recieve a capital one platinum visa. Apr is 19.8%. Im not to worried about that because Im a new resident and have been turned down by everyone . Im happy to finally be approved for soemthing so I can start building credit. i have no credit. My question is I have heard all around town that capital one does not report to the bureaus. If thats true how to do you get credit. Please help me fill in the blanks |

Capital one does report to credit bureaus. The key is to not carry a balance. If you carry a balance at 20% you will get killed with interest. If you keep this card for a while and pay it on time, you will indeed build a credit history and have offers flooding your mail box. |

Capitol One DOES report to the Credit Bureaus so don't worry about that. What you really need to worry about, is paying 20 cents on every dollar you borrow, that is a very high interest rate but if you don't have any credit, it makes sense. Make every payment on time, and watch how much you run the balance up. If you have some self control, you will be OK. Don't listen to any idiots that tell you to pay the balance every month. That will do NOTHING for your credit score. You need to show the ability to manage regular monthly payments, over time, in order to increase your score. |

as a capitol one cardholder, i can tell you that they do report to the bureaus.
never charge if you don't have the cash on hand to pay it off every month.
that is the BEST thing you can do for your credit rating. |

What Capitol One does is report your balance as your credit limit.Say you have a limit of $500.00 and you use your card and have a $200.00 charge on you account Capital One will report your $200.00 as your limit .So It shows that you maxed out your card every month |

Capital One I'm sure reports to all of the major credit bureaus. I will tell you that in my opinion, you don't want to use a credit card with this high an interest rate, unless you pay it off every month.
I personally have not credit cards anymore, and don't care about my credit because I pay for everything with either cash or a debit card. I'm still digging myself out of credit card debt and it has been 5 years paying off about $25,000.00 in credit debt. Never again will I fall into that trap.
Credit cards reek. |

they do, jus keep your debt low, pay monthly b4 due, and stick with one credit card now
about one year later, they decide your credit score and at that time, you can apply for a better card |

Capital one definitely reports to credit bureus...i have one of their cards and they report good and bad standing on a 30 day or 60 day basis... |

1. THEY DO REPORT.
2. STOP APPLYING FOR CREDIT-it hurts your score
3. DON'T BUY A BUNCH OF CRAP OR CARRY A BALANCE.
4. ***On the 7th month call them and ask for a better rate. |

Use only 20-25% of your available credit and pay in full every month. After 6-7 months you call them back and ask for better APR. The do report because I had them before and it's on my credit history.
You'll receive a bunch more offers now that you have the card, so don't go crazy and apply for all; half of them will say no to your application because of little or no credit history and every time they check your credit it takes points off of your score.
Use credit wisely on things you could buy with cash, so at the end of the month you can pay in full. |
