If you are looking for a credit card for bad credit, there are many options to choose from. The two main types of cards available are either a secured credit card or an unsecured credit card for bad credit. Both types of cards can help you repair your credit by giving you an opportunity to establish a good payment history. The costs and fees associated with each type of card are very different, however. In addition, depending on how bad your credit is, whether you have sufficient income and other personal details, you may only qualify for one or the other.
First let's look at the secured credit card for bad credit. A secured credit card requires that you deposit money with the issuing bank, and the bank will issue a credit card in the same amount for your use. Secured cards are guaranteed to be approved, because the bank has your deposit money in case you do not pay your balance. A secured credit card for bad credit operates much like a regular credit card. You receive a monthly statement, and you pay your minimum monthly payment or the balance in full each month. You are charged an interest rate, annual fee and possibly other fees for a secured credit card account. The best way to build a good credit history is to first secure a small loan, don't spend the money, then pay it back in full plus the interest the following month. Stay away from the high interest credit cards and wait until you have a good credit history. Besides, credit cards can often lead to financial ruin if you are careless so pay cash when you can. |

Ther best way is an auto loan. If you cant do that, get a secured credit card. It kinda blows cause you have to send them money before you get a card. Its kinda works like a bank debit card really. Thats how I started out. I think mine was through The First National Bank of Marin, If that helps. |

To the best of my knowledge, the only way to build up your credit rating is to borrow money and pay it back on time. I think there is such a thing as a "secured" credit card, where you put up an amount of money equal to the credit line of your card to insure that you don't borrow more than you can pay back (u don't pay, they keep your $$). You then use the card and pay it back out of your other money. As you use the card and pay on time, you build up your credit and eventually the lender gives you your security (the original amount of money) back. Check with a local bank.
I strongly suggest that if you find someone who will give you an unsecured card with little or no credit history, that you think twice about this...you could easily get into a LOT of trouble. |

Major credit card issuers like Discover, American Express and Chase offer a credit card for bad credit holders.
When choosing a credit card for bad credit holders take care to see that the lender does not levy exorbitant charges. Unscrupulous issuers can charge a program fee, an account set up fee, and an annual card fee etc. Authentic companies ask only for an annual fee and very little.
While searching online for an instant approval credit card for bad credit holders, you may mistakenly apply for an unsecured card that is really a 'shopping' card. This card is similar to a normal credit card, but you are allowed to buy only from select sellers, online shops or catalogues. Though it is a good idea if your credit record is bad, you cannot use it for shopping at local retail stores, restaurants, or to book airline or motel reservations. |

"
Reward credit cards reward you when you spend on the credit card. Normally, you can collect rewards through 3 ways.
* It involves earning cash back on the card, it depends on the amount you spend.
* Next one involves giving points to the customers. They can be redeemed for gifts like cosmetics, shoes, water heater, mobiles and other goodies which the credit card company offers.
* The last method of reward is providing airmiles. Airmiles are highly popular reward, as many customers like to redeem them for free flights or flight upgrades. Whatever type of reward credit card you opt for, carefully note the amount or rate at which rewards will accrue and also read carefully other terms and conditions.
Many people are not taking advantage of the reward points. Just 10% of the customers of various other credit cards redeemed their reward points." |

You can always try a site like Capitalone.com and apply they're good for first time credit cards or you can apply to Citibank/CitiCards.com if you don't qualify for an unsecure credit card then they'll send you an application to get a secured card. You can put anywhere from $300 to $5000 in a CD earning about 4%. The CD will mature in about 18 months and if you've managed the account good then they'll switch the account to unsecured and send you your money back with the interest. Chase will do the same too, sometimes.
If you don't want to take that route you can always try cards like OrchardBank (orchardbank.com). Those are for people with bad to no credit. The only thing you have to watch out with those cards are high APR's & Annual Fees. They'll also charge you a fee for like mailing a card, increasing the credit line, etc... |

If you have a parent or relative with a credit card they can add you as an Authorized User. Then you will get a credit rating as if you were using that card and paying it off. Of course make sure the person has good credit before adding you.
That's the absolute fastest way to get your credit rating up. Like others said, you can also take out a small secured loan or even apply for a secured card. I started with a crappy $250 secure card and over the years it has become a $5000 unsecured card. |

capitol one, is a credit card company, that you can put 150 to 500 on it. Make payments on it, and build from there. After about 6 months apply for a departments c.card and keep it payments up on it.
When you do get your credit moving, Do not over do your limits, so that you start falling behind. And don't fill out so many apps, at one time, since they can and will take away from your credit score. |

I recommend that you start off small with a SECURED CREDIT CARD. You can go to your bank and put down a minimum of $300.00 and they will use that as a security deposit and issue you a credit card for the same limit as your deposit.
This will start you a file with the credit bureaus and then you will receive solicitations in the mail for unsecured cards. This is how you start credit from nothing.
There are many other ways, but his seems best for your situation. |
