Orchard Bank will probably be your best bet, but I would still try to see about going for a secured credit card. Granted, you would have to put a deposit upfront in order to get the same in a line of credit, but that's the price you pay sometimes for questionable credit. The deposit is linked to a savings account, so it would gain interest while it's there. And you could boost your credit line ever so often by adding to the deposit. And as long as you keep the balance managable and pay more than the minimum payment on time every month, usually after a year, the card either converts to an unsecured card, or an offer for a better card would become available. I provided links to some secured cards as well as orchard bank. They also offer secured cards if you don't qualify for an unsecured one. |

You can find a complete list of credit cards to help build or repair your credit here:

Although these offers tend to have higher interest rates (and additional fees) when compare to 'standard' credit cards-- they'll help you establish or rebuild your credit history over time. Eventually, with regular on-time payments-- you'll be able to apply for better offers with lower APR's and less fees. But for now, these are the offers you'll be limited to...
Hope this helps. GOOD LUCK! |

Though prepaid credit cards resemble debit credit cards a lot, the two are vastly different. When you use debit cards for any purchase, your shopping will be automatically debited from your bank account. On other hand, the purchases made with prepaid cards are deducted from the balance present on the card.
The prepaid cards offer various benefits like:
Interest-free purchases
People with a bad credit history are eligible to apply for a credit card.
The credit limit varies according to the balance available on the card. |

I was given a card with a low limit, no more than $500/month. It works pretty good for me. Just go to a site, like capital one or discover card and apply. |

Yahoo has a link for Orchard Bank on the front page often. If I recall correctly, they were listed pretty highly in Consumer Reports for weak credit customers. You have to be careful of the fees when getting an unsecured card with not so great credit. I have seen cards that offer a $300 credit limit and then charge over $200 in fees to get the card. That means you owe them over $200 when you receive the card but have less than $100 in available credit.
Best of luck. |
