dee_windy | Has anyone claimed for their bank charges back? |
obviously someone has, just wondered how long they took to do it, Abbey are stalling with me and causing me all kinds of problems in life *sigh* |

I am currently waiting for Abbey to respond to my complaint about Bank Charges, and also to respond to my wider concerns about the way they have changed, varied, maladministered the charges since the Banco Santander takeover, having promised more simplicity when they changed their logo to a soft Abbey that would turn banking on its head. I also have complaints about the lack of reasoning and the varied expressions they use to describe these charges or fees, and also the lack of warning in buying the product that has meant I have not had reasonable certainty about what the bank can and cannot do.
They must work quicker. I think there are policy meetings going on and, it is inevtiable, I think, that the bank will be changing procedures in a defensive manner to protect their own interests very soon indeed. If any one works in Abbey Head Quarters in London I'd be grateful for some internal information. |

Yes, I claimed over £1000 from HSBC and users of my site have claimed back thousands more!
Unfortunately, since the bank charge revolution began, claims have gone from an average of 3 months to around 6 months due to the number of people claiming. The banks are overrun and are slower to respond, and the courts are full of claims so it takes a lot longer to get a hearing date.
The banks do try and stall as much as possible, which is stupid really, as they always have to pay out in the end. It actually costs them more money by stalling than if they just paid out!
Have a look at my site below which has detailed step by step guides to claiming, the latest bank charge news and developments, and forums for one to one help and support throughout your claim. If you want to post about the problems you are having, myself and others should be able to help you.
The site is free to use! |

Yes. I had no problems with Halifax. In fact, they were rather nice about it. It took about 6 weeks. |

I am banking with abbey as well and, to be honest with you, it is a bit of a headache: they always charge you when you go overdraft. However, I've always been able to get them around in this sense and have them pay my money back. I guess it all depends on whether it is your fault or theirs. I remember one day I had given out a posted check for £160 and they charged me with £50 even though it was not my fault: the check I had given out was for a day after they had cleared it. In the end I was finally able to get my money back, but I doubt I would have got any money paid in case I had not notice the overdraft amount. |

Seems to be a typical tactic with banks these days..threaten them with their ombudsman that will hopefully give them a shake. |

this is a tricky option, yes you can claim back unfair bank charges, however some banks are being bitchy about it & my mate had a mortgage & overdraft when he claimed back the charges they Cancelled his Overdraft & ordered him to pay off his Mortgage.
