Did you do any checking on this "company"?

NEVER BORROW MONEY UNLESS YOU KNOW THE COMPANY YOU ARE BORROWING IT FORM.
Go to a bank, credit union etc.
If your credit is bad then there is a reson that you should not borrow money in the first place.
No one is going to lend money to someone with horrible credit, or with out doing some type of credit check.
I am sorry for your loss, but you need to use caution when dealing with your finances.
