If you've got a Spanish debit card, I think you'll find you can call the company chasing you for the debt and pay over the phone using your debit card. We have done this from Spain. It's very irritating because in both instances we didn't believe we owed the money and wouldn't have paid it if we had still be in the UK. But it's difficult to argue long distance. But it's better to pay the debt than have people hassling your mother or, in our case, the people who had bought our house. |

Yes, you'll be able to pay via bank transfer from your bank to theirs. You might lose out (or gain a little) on the exchange rates though. |

Phone the company to whom you owe the money, tell them you are in Spain and ask them what is the best way for you to get the money to them.
I am sure they will have the ways and means to receive money from overseas. |

My advice is to find out what the law in Spain is first before you make any offer. As you no longer reside in the UK you may find that there is no jurisdiction on a company to re-claim the debt. This is what you need to find out because if the finance company can proceed to claim from you, you may well have to travel back to the UK to a County Court for a hearing. You may need legal advice from a solicitor. |

No, don't leave it. Who wants illegality stuck in the back of your mind? You made the debt; pay the debt. You could pay through your local bank via telegraphic transfer, which is very expensive but fast and cleared funds (if the place you owe can give you bank details), or via international draft where you can get the check made out in US dollars (I'm presuming you're in the US) and sent back to them. You'll have to pay for the check and conversion but it's still likely cheaper than a telegraphic transfer. |

Pay through an international bank and they will do the exchange rate. If you debt is in the States you will be ahead in the game, our dollar is slipping ( lol ). |
