Judy | Have you had your credit limit decreased? |
If so, were you paying just the minimum? |

Nope, but then I do not have 29 pages of credit card info on my credit reports either? |

Yes, I have had my credit limit decreased while only making the minimum payment. I was a day late on my payment but I made it. My sister had hers decreased recently however and when she called the bank they said it was because she had too much credit available to her. Personally, I think it's because the banks are worried that they are going to see a higher number of people charging to make ends meet and later these people won't be able to pay. Unfortunately, people who use their credit wisely will be effected. |

No and I am eligible for a credit limit increase. No, I pay in full every month. A nice surprise was opening the new statement and seeing my APR lowered. I requested one and one just happened. |

No decreases on my card. I don't pay the minimum. I make payments on my card as I make purchases throughout the month. |

no. my credit limit has never been decreased. a credit limit may be decreased, if the lendor feels that the borrower's credit worthiness has come down. other reason is when the lendor is facing liquidity crunch. |

Yes!
and I was paying it all off in full each months and I WASKED for it as £18,000 limit was stupid so I asked for a £9,000 limit but only ever use about £2000 max as I like to pay it off each month..
credit card companies are removing their bad customers by reducing and removing credit facilities as they are running scared and only offering credit to those who don't need it!
its not you 50% of egg customers have had the same thing in the last year.. |

Yes I have. I had my income reduced to less than half so I was struggling. One of the credit card companies, did lower my credit limit.
They usually won't lower your credit limit if you are just making the minimum payment.
There are a few things that can trigger the decrease in a credit limit. Some companies routinely check your credit history and if you have a lot of missed payments or late payments then that shows the company that you are a credit risk. It is basically telling them that you are financially struggling so they are just protecting themselves by lowering your credit limit.
The credit file contains all of your credit history so even if you are making payments to collector a, but are not paying or struggling to pay collector b and c then that is a red flag to them.
Repossessions, collection activities, bankruptciescan also effect it. You can also request your limit to be dropped.
With a lot of institutions going under and struggling, some just went ahead and lowered a lot of limits to protect themselves. |
