CALL THE BANK IMMMEDIATLY. YOU EITHER ARE THE VICTIM OF IDENTITY THEFT OR A HACKER HAS GOTTEN INTO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. THE BANK HAS TO REPORT ALL TRANSACTIONS OVER 10,000.00 TO THE FEDERAL GOVERMENT SO UNCLE SAM AND HIS TWIN THE IRS WILL BE KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR ABOUT THIS TRANSACTION. THE BANK SHOULD BE ABLE TO GIVE YOU AN ENTIRE HISTORY OF DEPOSITS,WITHDRAWALS AND TRANSFERS. IF YOU ACT ON THIS QUICKLY THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TRACK WHAT HAS HAPPENED. GET OFF THE NET AND CALL THE BANK!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

It should say on your e-statement,or on a paper statement you can ask the bank for, where it went to.
If you're sure you didn't make this transfer, then tell your bank RIGHT AWAY.
It sounds like theft. This happened to my sister recently. Someone set up a standing order on her bank account, for more money than she had in her account, and made her go overdrawn. The bank sorted it and she was refunded her money within a couple of days.

Get to your bank and get them to sort this right away!

File with the fraud department of the bank and your local police. The bank can tell where the money was transferred to and if it is still there should be able to pull it back.

Cynical_Si
Its either a mistake (bank error) or its fraud (credit card or identity theft). In either case you want to talk to the bank, not Y:A

I'd imagine surely a mistake, most banks these days have considerable protection in place.. and thats an awful lot of money to let someone OD themselves by.

teddy
He is either been a victim of a fraud or he is not telling you something. Suggest he contacts them as soon as bank opens.

Call the bank and report it. It might be identity theft.

You are lucky that you didn't have enough to cover the transfer because your bank shouldn't have gone through with the transfer if there wasn't money to cover it.

You may need to close that account and reopen another.

You should be able to see the transaction. Go to the bank tomorrow and find out.

Thats quite a bit but wait till morning, depending where you are located, banks cans do funky things in the overnight hours while they are accepting transactions from the previous day
