Help with an ebay item?
i have found an decent spec pc for the bargain Price of £0.99 (i know it is stupidly cheap) but the P&P on it is £170.01 which makes it £171. the seller has stated that you can pick up for free in the postage options. so technicaly because there is no mention of a mistype or any other error with the postage i could buy it for £0.01 and there is nothing the seller coduld do because they gave that option?

P.S im assuming that the seller has made a mistake and they would probably not sell it for that price but what do you thing. do you think that due to seller laws the item has to be sold at that price because the seller has added it for that price.
Additional Details
It is a buy it now

also i have emailed the seller to see what they say

Never mind seller laws, let's think about this rationally shall we.

A 'decent spec PC' for £0.99...

Legally, the seller does not have to sell it at any price specified, as it is an 'invitation to treat' and not a binding price.

I would buy it now for £0.99 and if you are local and it's cheaper to pick it up, then do it - as it's stated "you can pick up for free in the postage options".

If the seller refuses this, and you decide not to buy then leave negative feedback for the seller.

The £171 P&P is way of avoiding fees.

If you pay by Paypal the total £172 and something went wrong, they will refund the total £172. I had a dispute before and Paypal refunded me the total including the P&P.

theyre not allowed to do this they only do it so their item will come up first when people select price lowest to highest, they wont give u the option to pick the item up and when ebay sees that they have done this they will def have thri listing removed, its also a lot cheaper to list and item at a low price, tut tut

First off, you should report this listing to eBay, for excessive shipping fees. Unscrupulous sellers do this to get away with paying less fees to eBay for the sold items. Secondly, no way this seller is going to sell this to you for that price. If it seems to good a deal to be true, it is - you can click on it and buy it and then they will tell you it isn't available to be picked up. It is a scam. Report them to eBay and get them off of there.

Although bids and sales are binding, you can't physically force the seller let you have the item if you win it.

If they refuse to go through with the sale, the best you can do is to report them as a 'non-perfoming seller' and move on. You could try taking it to the Small Claims Court, but it would hardly be worth your while, even if you won.

Whether you bid or not, you should also report them for listing with excessive P&P.

The seller is cheating eBay out of it's fees.
Even if you try to pick it up in person, they are going to want to charge postage because that's where they hid their profit.

Should anything go wrong, of course, they will only refund the bid price.

If that's the price he put then that's the price it is.
Hes trying to avoid paying eBay fees by making the PC price low and the postage high.
Once you bought it you can appeal to PayPal and probably get some of the postage money back.

What is P and P. Price and Postage on a buy it now? But they state you can pick up the item and wave the shipping fees?
If this is an auction, the seller knows this items value will go to the desired amount of money their hoping to get it to, by researching what other personal computers sell for.
Read up in the sellers responsibilities and how they can amend their ads. I guess in the end they can simply tell you the item broke while trying to package it, and they relist it, and their refunding your .99. Ive had that happen to me on low priced items. I felt they were lying but there was nothing to do but get the refund.

soldier of fortune
unless the item is withdrawn then the seller must sell you the item for the the winning amount
