Could you not just phone them or send an e-mail these will get to them quicker than a letter and you will get an answer sooner.
sorry to hear about your situation and hope it gets better soon.
good luck. |

Call them. Letters get lost in the shuffle or they can deny even receiving it. The next step for you is a "judgement", then you will be explaining this to a judge in a courtroom.
I know how it is to delay these things, I've been there. You have taken the first step here to cure it. It must weight heavy on you. Pick up the telephone, call them and sleep better at night! Git er done! (good luck)... |

As far as I can see you have 2 choices.
The first is to log on to the National Debtline website where they have sample letters that you can use - they do work as I used them myself many many moons ago.
Second choice - get thyself over to the Motley Fool website (www.fool.co.uk) - they have a brilliant Dealing with Debt noticeboard and some of the people on the board are absolutely fantastic and will give you as much help as you need.
Hope this helps - and good luck. |

I would suggest, respectfully, that when you have finished your letter that you make sure it is checked for spelling and grammar.
This will give a good impression to the recipient |

You've pretty much said it all in your question. Just offer your apologies and explain the situation. The fact that you are offering to det up a DD will go a long way.
good Luck! |

At first apologize for not paying and replying the letters.
Then explain your situation in a few sentences.
Then explain what you are trying to do for this in a few sentences. Just don't write too long. |

hi. companies come across this sort of thing every day and if you are willing to pay and are making offers of payment to them they will be quite sympathetic with you.
don't be afraid to contact them and do it asap! honestly it will go in your favour in the long run.
if you really are stuck as to what to say why not contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau who can give you free advice, if you explain you don't know what to put they could help you draft up a letter.
i have provided you with a link to a pdf file from CAB with sample letters which you could use... |

I haven't got a template but can offer the following advice.
Write your letter in very simple terms. Keep the paragraphs short and deal with one issue per paragraph. Don't repeat yourself and don't make it too complicated..
You've done well explaining things here (!) so continue with your thoughts and make two or three draughts if necessary. You'll get it right in the end. Well done to you for dealing with it! |

To the Company who you have the debt with.
My position unfortunately in regard to payments each month has changed. This is due to my self being made redundant at the place of employment I have been working at. It is not my intention to not pay my debt to your company therefore with my lack of a established income at this time I offer to be able to pay this amount monthly $--- at this time with the option of paying more if and when my present circumstances employment wise change.
I am yours sincerly -------------------- |

Well to start of with, You really need to sit down on your computer and dedicate an hour or so to getting this out of your way. First make sure that while writing the letter pretend that the debt agency people are your friends to get you in the right state of mind. Being friendly to them will result in them being friendly back. Let them know in the letter that you have realised that it is an important issue. Then start explaining how you were made redundant and are willing to make a compromise by offering them an amount you feel suitable to give them. You dont have to write a bible, just as much as it takes. Don't feel that you need to write more. At least you are replying!! Good Luck !! |

Do the letter through the citizens advice, they are are used to dealing with debt companies, they can do it better than you. If you do it yourself the company will dictate the terms and they Will be a lot more than the CAB can get you. |
