If I recall correctly, all you need is to be employed for a minimum of 2 years, be over 18 to be able to sign the contract and apply at a major bank.

They normally start you out with a small limit of $500 to $2,000. If you use it and pay it off completely over a set time frame they will increase your limit without even telling you.

The only way you will know is, if they increased it, it will be changed on your bill the month they increase it etc.

Make sure you pay the balance off don't get yourself in debt, credit cards charge a high interest, here it's 28% interest and it can bury you if your not careful. Once you build up a good credit rating by using it properly you can do other things like get loans and lines of credit etc. but it all starts with a credit card.

I8 or older are usually getting mail to apply for credit cards.
They seems to not care as long as you have a job/income.
There is probably someone in your home that receives them.
You just fill them out and try with your name.
I know it is possible.

well you can be over 18 and not have a credit history. the only way to do it is get a secured card.

Since your question was how to APPLY not actually GET a credit card, I'm assuming you don't know how to go about getting an application. Try a local bank or credit union. The'd be happy to give you one.

If you cannot be approved for a unsecured credit card, obtain a secured credit card to help you start a credit score.
