If you like cash, take out a small person loan of 1000-2000 from your local bank or credit union, and pay it back over a year! this will show lenders that you can be responsible with credit all without having a credit card.

And here are 10 more things I bet you didnt know you could do to bump your score asap! I raised mine to well over 700 points fro 500 using these steps in less than a year:

1. Know and Track Your Credit Score (be sure to sign up for the free trial of your credit score monitoring listed below. It really helped my get my score up.)
2. Never Miss a Payment, Starting Today
3. Never use more than 20% of your Available Credit
4. Keep Credit Cards that Have No Annual Fees Open For as Long as Possible
5. Extend Your Credit Limit on Cards You Already Have before You Get New Ones
6. Get Credit Cards that Have CashBack Rewards to Contribute to your Balance
7. Transfer Your Balance to a Credit Card with a Lower Interest Rate and a Higher Available Credit-
8. If You Think You Are Going to be FORCED to Pay a Bill Late Ask for an Extension or Payment Plan
9. Take out a Small Personal Loan and Repay it Over a Year
10. Ask Someone With Good Credit if They will Account Shadow you

When you're trying to build a solid credit score it's important to get a comprehensive view of what is actually effecting it...

Your Credit Score (also known as your MyFico score) is calculated with the following breakdown:

* 35% -> History of Payments
* 30% -> Debt to Credit Ratio (available credit)
* 15% -> Credit History (length of open accounts)
* 10% -> New Credit (are you expanding your credit)
* 10% -> Credit Types in Use (varied credit types from loans to credit cards)

If you excel in one area and lack in another, only fixing the areas which you lack are going to improve your score.

All of the people below, have valid and great points, the irony of it all. You will have to use credit to improve your credit scores. Nothing more I can add on to all the great things said below. You should get one credit card, and you should acquire a loan through your bank.

Ironically, you have to obtain and responsibly use credit in order to raise your scores - either installment debt such as a car loan, credit cards or a home loan.

Go to http://www.ineedrates.com and find a card with low interest rates and continue paying off your monthly balance on time.

Your going to have to get yourself a credit card and start using it - (I hated this also) but it is necessary! You can do this a couple of ways - One way is when you use your Card - go ahead and subtract from your checking register so when you receive the credit card bill - you just write a check for the full balance and pay it completely off every month or if you have a retail card (like a best buy card) - they usually give you so many months to have it paid off before any interest is charged - so take the amount you spent and divide by that many of months and pay that amount monthly - this builds history of making payments - the key to this one - is ALWAYS make them on time!!! and have paid off before the ending of the time period so you don't get hit with interest!

I have done both and it really improved my credit score!!!

To raise credit score

1. Always pay on time or ahead of time.
2. maintain low balances on credit cards
3.To boost your score: Don't charge anything for at least 60 days before applying for a loan
4. keep your total potential debt to earnings load low - If you have a card with a $15000 credit line, you may ask them to reduce it to something more realistic, like $5000.
5. You should have a recent history of both installment or term (Car or house loans) and revolving credit.
6.To boost your score: Don't close unused accounts when you transfer debt.
7.To boost your score: Consider opening another credit-card account or two, or taking out a car loan or small bank loan.

http://credcards.noneto.com - try this one. I personally use it. This card is also very good to build credit rating.
Just take credit and pay it in time, and your credit score will grow.

If you hate using credit, you won't earn it until you start using it. Start paying for all of your gas with your credit card and save up the cash and turn around and pay it off. It shows a lot of responsibility to charge and than pay off. That way you can show you deserve the credit and the credit card company makes no money off you. Another good way is to purchase something thru a store and finance it through them. Like for example, a bought a couch from RC Willey, they show up on my credit report and it shows that I make regular monthly payments to them. It also shows which months i've missed a payment or made a late payment. You won't get a better credit score until you learn to actually use your credit wisely. Good luck.
