To create a website you need a domain and webhosting.As an experienced webmaster I recommend purchase your domain and webhosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some webhosting companies offer this as a gift . i prefer to use fastdomain webhosting for mine since they are inexpensive and offer unlimited hosting space, free domain, free site builder etc etc

Well, Freewebs.com is a free site that you can make your OWN web site and they even provide free tools to help you out.. you can choose from many different layouts, and it is really simple. .. but the only problem is that your URL would be something like www.freewebs.com/YOURURL.
Also, Blogger (through Google) is a blogging site that is a pretty cool site. It's like an online blog, but you can post what you want. |

We use Hostway http://www.hostway.com for years, and we never gave them a credit card number and we'd just send them a check. They do allow check payment.
The problem with giving the web host your credit card, aside from security concerns, is that they may charge things on your account even without you knowing it. |

A lot of webpages let you create an account with PayPal. PayPal itself actually needs a credit card number, but they help so you don't need to keep giving out the number to anyone else. |

There are some websites you can get for free, or atleast a "spot" for free. You can look around too & call around & see if there is one you can just send a check. Also, there is always myspace & facebook for a free page on the web to start out :) |

Its not just a kid thing...its great. You can design it however you choose and if you are selling something you can send your page out to millions of people!
Its a great way to be seen and it won't cost you a thing!

I suggest you use Freewebs. I have made 5 sites through them, all for free. They have all turned out pretty professional looking. Obviously, you wouldn't have to give your credit card number , because it's free. www.freewebs.com

I paid $20 for the domain, but that's not required. You can pay a monthly fee if you'd like upgraded service, but my site was made all for free and it turned out pretty good, so it isn't nessesary at all.
I don't think there is a site where you can send it a check instead.
