I took a $17,000 pay cut about a 2 years ago. My wife was using our credit cards for basic living expenses. Needless to say we got way behind, we have 2 in court trying to get a wage garnishment. I make more money now and we can afford about $250/mo for a payment. But if I just pay the Credit companyies they keep adding interest and fees every month. If I settle with them and pay a lump sum then it will be done and over with. But I need at least 15K to pay them off. Trust me, if anyone see's my credit record they will refuse a loan. My wife got deathly ill, causing us to file bankrupsy 6 years ago. Can anyone give me advice. If my wages are garnished for less than the monthy fees added to all these accounts, then not only will I be out on the street, but I will never pay these evil creditors off. Thanks for your help. |

Wait 2 years and file for bankruptcy again - starting from a clean slate - once the creditors have you behind the eight ball, they'll stop lending you money that you're no longer able to pay back. |

Contact a "nonprofit" credit advisor. They can contact your creditors and arrange a much lower rate of payment.

I was in your shoes a few years back. If you truly want to pay the credit cards off, all you need to do is contact a debt counseling service. There are many to choose from, I used Consumer Credit Counseling. They will need to know all of your creditors, and they will contact them. They will get your interest rates reduced (most of them will go to zero) and they will work with you to get an afforable payment plan. You will pay the credit counseling agency and they will pay your creditors for you. I would recommend to anyone. It worked like a charm for me! Most of the companies that you can use are nonprofit, therefore, not charging you fees for their assistance. |

When you say they are in court.. did a collector tell you this or did you get a supenoa? Collectors lie a ton and rarely does it get to the point where they garnish your wages. Put aside $250 a month until you have the $$ to settle a lump sum with each. Try to get the settlement as low as possible. Unless it is a pay day advance, you will most surely get your credit checked for any type of loan. |
