It might not be as hard as you think. Major dealerships have loans for bad credit, bankruptcies, slow paying..
Will you have to pay a higher interest rate? Most likely. But that doesn't mean you still can find a decent car in an affordable price range.
If you pay your car payment on time and keep your other accounts in good standing, you shouldn't have any problem with getting a better rate in the future.
Check your local dealerships for used car specials or places like Car Hop or J D Byrider. Don't use Drivetime...they have a LOT of bad reports about them.
I got a certificate in the mail from Laird Noller's HQ for their 'Clean Start' financing program. It's good for people with established credit but have a few negative accounts, and could possibly get 0% interest.
My payments on my auto loan is perfect, I just had credit card issues.

You can look for a Buy Here, Pay Here dealer, that would be willing to give you credit, but that will cost you a lot in excecive interests. Or you can just save, or buy a small used car in the 500 range, Good Luck out there. |

Buy here, Pay here places will allow you get a car. Not a perfect car but still. If you have a job and have proof you should be approved for it. If you can put down payment like 1.000$ or something they will give you the car same day...

Buy an older car for cash. Buying cars on credit has become a disease, and it's why prices have skyrocketed.
People automatically think "credit" just as you're doing. That's a big mistake for most people, and an example of the poor judgment you've mentioned.
If you MUST buy on credit at this time, make sure that it's a cheap car, nevertheless. |

Try a place that does buy here pay here. They finance the car for you, and you pay the money to them every month.
That or find a co signer, such as a parent or sibling. |

you'll probably still need a co-signer. but hey give it a try on your own and see what happens, make sure you let the salesman know your situation. but also be careful that you dont end up with a sour deal like sky high interest or a super long loan. |

Dealerships often won't deal with poor credit consumers simply because they are not trained to. Check out some of these sites: http://www.fundingway.com - http://www.LotPro.com - http://www.car-loans-financing.com - Those are the biggest names in the business and help just about anybody get a car. They should be able to help you to. I have personal experience with them. |
