If the account was negative it stays on your credit report for 7 years regardless of whether or not you paid it off. After 7 years, if it hasn't been removed then you can request it to be taken off. Until then it is just a waiting game. There is nothing that you can do if you were at fault and didn't pay on time. If you had good reason you can call and ask that they look into it but it is unlikely that they will remove it. Also, it sounds like you didn't pay on time and that is why they went to collections. If that is the case, you just have to wait. |

You have to get in touch with the credit reporting companies. Even then it is at times difficult to have them remove it from your credit report. go to credit report.com and you should see on there the names of the credit reporting companies and how to contact them. I had to fill out a form to request certain items be removed from my report. I know one of the companies is Equifax and there are two more which I can't seem to remember. |

I would call the collections agency and ask to remove them off the credit report. They are the only one's you can call. If you court issues shows up under public records, I am not sure how you can remove this. I would speak with an attorney, or call your local court system. |

you can't remove something that actually happened - that wouldn't be fair to people who never had anything go to collections - it will be shown as paid off and/or closed, but the fact that it went to collections at all does not change and it will stay there for 7-10 years |

Ask that the creditor send notice to the bureaus that the debt was paid and is to be removed.
Or you can get proof of the debt being paid off and writing to the bureaus directly with a copy of the proof.
If neither of those work, then you're stuck with it for the seven years since it was reported. |

Theses Creid Collection accounts will stay on your credit report for a long time, if you have paid them off and it has been quite a while report the the accounts to the credit check website and they will review it. Good Luck. |

You should have negotiated a delete for pay agreement before paying. It is very unlikely the collection agency will remove the item now. Also, the collection agency can only remove the entry they submitted. They can't remove the original creditor's charge off entry.
You can try to negotiate a delete for pay agreement with the attorney. Be sure to get it in writing and save it, along with your proof of payment, forever. Don't give them direct access to your bank account.
Derogatory items fall off credit reports 7-1/2 years from the date of first deficiency. The older the item, the less impact on your score. Paid derogatory items look better than unpaid.
You need at least 24 months of consistent, on time payments to improve your score. |

In short, no. You may ask the company who performed the collection activity to remove this from your credit report, however if there is no mistake on their end they will most likely leave it as is. If you have legitimate collection on your credit report you just have to wait for it to come off. I believe it takes 10 years, maybe less but don't quote me on this. I am a loan officer in a bank and I see collection activity on peoples credit reports that go back years. My advice is to hire a lawyer and see if they can work with these companies to get them to remove some, they are more likely to respond to an attorney than they are you. This is expensive but if your FICO score means that much to you go for it. Good luck, hope this helps. |

Jeremy is right. Usually collection agencies will not verify a paid debt, especially since they usually purge their records after 90 days or so. File a WRITTEN dispute with the credit bureaus and see what happens.
If that doesn't work, see if you can get the name of a supervisor at the collection agency and send them a goodwill letter. Usually, that will work if you get ahold of someone halfway decent. |

I have, in the past, been able to dispute paid off collection accounts (after having paid them in full) with the credit bureaus and the accounts were deleted. In my experience with 2-3 collection accounts once the collection agency has been paid they don't care to validate a disputed account if they have been paid. So I would start by doing a dispute on those. This isn't to say that the account will be removed, but it is something to try since a Pay for Delete agreement wasn't reached. |

Even after it's been paid, it stays on your credit report for 7 years. There's not really much you can do about that.
Sorry! |

you cannot delete old credit accounts unless they are over 10 years old
even if you paid the account off it will still show up on your credit, it will just show a zero balance |

I have had the same situation and it will take some persistence on your part but it can be done. You must contact Equifax, Experian and Trans union. All accounts are usually reported to all three and if they are on one they are usually on the other. You have to send a letter dated and "return receipt" (very important) giving them 30 days to correct this. If after 30 days they cannot fix it they have to by law drop it from your credit report. *ask for a return letter asking for their response in the 30 days. Make a file of all of the letters you send and receive. Some of the accounts you will be ale to get rid of and some you will not but it is a process and you will eventually get back on top. You can buy a kit at Wal Mart with the instructions and form letters to do this, the main thing is to send EVERYTHING return receipt and keep copies of EVERYTHING sent and received. Good luck |

You need to get a letter that your name is removed from such a place as the cases are paid and settled.
As there is no point they should be keeping you there if you have paid the amounts. |
