You can file bankruptcy, but that will keep you from getting any sort of credit for a long time. I suggest you contact the credit card company and explain your situation. Tell them that you have stopped using your card and would like to make arrangements to pay off the balance but you need a break on the interest fees. Tell them this is the only way you can pay them off. You would be surprised how many credit card companies work with the card holder. It's a lot cheaper than taking you to court to get their money. Good Luck. |

There are a few ways you might do this.
If you get an offer from another company with a really low interest for bal. transfer you could do that. Or you could call the company & ask for a lower rate(good luck). Now if you are behind on your bills you could consider a debt consolidation but that will probably cost also. If you can get a very low interest rate from your bank or fixed rate equity loan on your house you could do that. If none of these work then cut your spending and pay the regular payment & then an extra amount between due dates to cut the interest. I would have advised against cancelling your card as it will be hard to get another to build your credit. If you get another one put it in the ice tray for emergency use. If you have to thaw it out you will probably think 2ce about using it. Good rule of thumb is if you can't pay in full at the end of the month then you can't afford to charge it & probably don't need whatever the item is. |

Sorry but you cannot get out of it, you will have to pay it back. Try getting a low interest loan at a bank. Credit cards are bad news...I paid mine off 4 yrs ago and will NEVER have another one. Good luck! |

Pay as much as you can possibly afford, buy only necessities, and learn your lesson, you will eventually pay it off |

You may be able to transfer it over to another card with lower rate, or contact a debt consolidation place. They will work with the company so you can pay it at a reasonable price to pay it off. |

It was probably a bad idea to close it with a balance on it. They have no real incentive to work with you now.
Two things:
After six months of paying on time and a little extra than the minimum call them and ask for a lower rate.
or
Since it is closed anyway, look to transfer the balance to a card with a lower rate.
Do not go bankrupt over this. |

By returning whatever it was you bought and paying off your credit card. Either way, you HAVE to pay it, it's what you spent. |

If you can, get another credit card!
I am not joking. If you are able to get one with a low interest rate(sometimes under 4%) on balance tranfers, do this. You then transfer the $3000 from your current card, to the new one.
Cut up your old card! (do use it again).
Once you have the balance on the new card at a low rate, it will be much easier to pay off. More of the money you spend will go towards the principal, not the interest and you will be out of debt much sooner. |

Become a poster child for irresponsible people who buy things and spend money on things that they cannot afford.
Maybe you can earn a few dollars.
Pay your debt..... It's NOT debit
How about getting a job, or a 2nd one, and getting rid of your cel phone, and cable TV, and taking the bus or walking instead of driving so you can cancel your auto insurance for awhile... you DO have insurance, right ?
You are responsible, aren't you ?? |
