What a bunch of crap answers.
This is what you need to do, call the companies and demand a pay for delete agreement this simply says that in return for your payment they agree to remove the accounts from your credit bureaus.
Do not send them a dime until you have this agreement in writing. Paying off old collections without this agreement doe's nothing but actually make your credit score worse because the accounts become current rather then old. |

Spiff is absolutely correct.
This is one of the dirty little secrets collection agents play on you. While you think paying your debt will improve your credit score, it actually doesn't (and will actually make it worse).
They will tell you that they can not do it, it's illegal. Another lie. The truth is the law permits the creditor to add, modify, or delete any item they post on your credit report. There is NO LAW requiring them to post anything!
If they tell you they won't do it, it's because they want to punish you. So why on earth pay them if it's not going to help. |

This is what I did.
Instead of paying the debt collectors directly, call the original creditor and try your best to pay them directly. In most cases the dept collector is different that the creditor.
When you do this you'll cut out the middleman/the debt collector is left out of the loop Any remarks that you have with the debt collector cannot be put on your report. Only the late remarks will be there from the creditor but not the debt collector remarks.
If the creditor (or the agent) is not will to accept payment from you, you can just make a payment online or send them a check most of the time it will automatically go through and the debt is considered satisfied.
Once that is done you can submit paperwork the the credit bureau stating that the info might have inaccurate info (spam them, eventually they mess up), and you can get the "30 days, 60 days, 90 days late" comments removed. But usually its a matter of luck since technically your were late on the payments. But It worked for me. 590 to 710 in 2 years!!!!!!! |

Once the debts are payed it takes a few years for them to be removed. They will be marked as paid, but there will still be evidence that you didn't pay on time and it had to go to collections. You can build good credit by paying all your bills on time from now on and opening up a checking account. |

First I would dispute the collections thought the credit reporting agency. This takes up to 30 days. If this does not work then I would send a pay for delete letter. You can find many examples. What this does is if they agree to accept your payment they are going to remove the item from your credit report. This is not an addmission of guilt but of a way to resolve this quickly. The collection agency signs the form and sends it back to you. Then you send a check with copy of the letter. If it does not come off your credit report within thirty days of them cashing your check, dispute the item again though the credit reporting agency like Transunion and send a copy of the signed letter. |

You can use credit repair agency, for example this one - http://creditreport.imess.net
They will clean lots of bad stuff from your credit report - and do it much faster than yourself.
You will spend lots of time by personally doing it... I guess you are not a lawyer. |

The most surefire way would be to send a check, and on the back in the endoresment section, write "Deposit of these funds by the recivor constitutes agreement that all negative marks will be removed regarding the signor's credit history" or something like that. I'm not a lawyer so don't know the correct wording, but if they sign it to deposit the check, they are signing a conditional contract.
Try going to the forums at www.creditnet.com. With the help of those forums I completely eliminated years of bad debt and collection accounts within about 6 months and now I have perfect credit. |

you'll just have to wait it out ...once you have negative marks on your report, only time will take them off ....about 7 years. |

This is what I did and am continuing to do. I took out a secured loan with my credit union and left the money in the account that paid it off. It paid itself off and it raised my credit score. Also, banking at the same bank for years also helps. I can go over my account by $750 in the negative. When I 1st got my account, if I bounced one check i'd be cut off and if it was too high of a check they wouldn't even pay it. That shows that my credit went up. |

once you pay them off, make sure you receive letters from them....then you can write to the bureaus to have them removed... |

Any negative marks on your credit report will remain there for 8 years. Only time and your continued ability to pay your payments on time and in full will return your credit to a positive stance. |
