How can I legally erase my debt and improve my credit?

Pay your bills.

go to a debt consolidator. they can pay off your debt in around a year, and it improves yuor credit. they take control of your bills, and you pay them one monthly payment. they then dispurse it to your creditors. look it up online. you can do buy-downs with your credit cards, but that makes you look bad. there is no way to "erase it" without it ruining your credit.

Legally? What about morally? You can't just run up debts and expect them to be erased. You shouldn't be worrying about a credit score. You should be worrying about your debt...and paying it off.

beauty s
yea, by paying them off

You can't erase debt but you can try to pay it back.

Legally a bankruptcy--but a bankruptcy declaration is a 7 year problem--No new credit--No mortgage--No new Car. And most people have that in their files at work and any creditors who have been searching for you. You are NOT invisible and the bankruptcy is not really a good idea--if it was--EVERYONE would do it. The thing to do is make an adult, big boy, grown up attempt to contact each creditor--have a real heart to heart talk--bring any and all bill stubs and pay stubs to show why you are falling behind and having trouble. DO NOT show up in a new car and wearing alot of jewelery. LOOK POOR. Then they may reduce the amount for an easier time--but YOU have to make the effort. Credit??? Don't ever use credit again--you obviously cannot handle it and will be in trouble again. IF YOU REALLY NEED IT__PAY CASH. Can't afford it?? Save up or don't buy it. Nobody gets the stuff just erased---you need to convince them that you are doing the best you can but would appreciate some help. Well---good luck

You can legally erase your debt by paying it off which will in turn give your credit a big boost...

Or you can legally erase your debt by filing bankruptcy which will hurt your credit...

There isn't a way to legally do both.

A credit bureau will not remove accurate negative information from your credit report before the legal time period has expired. Therefore, do not believe anyone who claims they can get negative information removed from your credit report faster than is legally required.

There are no "loopholes" or laws that credit repair companies can use to get correct information off your credit report.

No credit repair company can do anything you can't do for yourself. It is impossible for a third party to make changes in your file if the facts have been correctly reported. There are individuals and companies that claim they can fix a bad credit file. This is not the case. If a file includes accurate, yet negative information about your credit history, this information cannot be changed. Information will only be changed when your file contains an inaccuracy.

The only way to rectify a poor credit rating is to adopt sound credit practices for a period of time.

like everyone one else said pay it off, then start with small stuff like getting a cell phone under your name and making on time payments, or a checking account also looks good when your trying to raise that credit.
