You can not remove correct information from your credit report. If you failed to pay and they charged it off, it goes on your credit report and stays for 7 years. If you are having credit issues, check out Consumer Credit Counseling Service at http://www.cccsintl.org/

The dispute approach for removing correct information only works for a short time. Lets say you dispute a charge off that is valid and the company does not respond in 30 days. The charge off will be removed from your credit report as many people point out. What they forget to mention is this; once the company does respond, the information goes back on the report! It really does not gain you anything.

davidmi711 is somewhat correct. If a listing is deleted, it can be reinserted by the creditor, but only if they certify that the information is correct.

This certified information must also be sent to the debtor, who after all did request it. It allows the debtor to review the material and be sure that this is a valid debt. If it's still not accurate, it can once again be disputed. However, this time the creditor can be liable for filing inaccurate information. You have now just stepped into a fraud case, and the damages are going to really be expensive.

But to answer your original question, you have to first send a dispute letter to the credit reporting agency. They will then contact the creditor to "verify" that the debt is legitimate. If they do not get a response back from the creditor, they must delete the entry.

If it is "verified", you then send a letter to the creditor to "demand to validate" the debt. That means they have to send you copies of the contracts, bills, receipts, and anything used to calculate what they claim you owe. They have 30 days to send you this information.

If they do not send it, you can send a copy of this letter, plus another dispute letter to the credit reporting agency, and demand that the listing be deleted due to "lack of validation".

If the creditor does send this, examine the paperwork very closely for any errors that you can use to dispute the listing. If it's in order, there isn't much you can do. Fair and Accurate information can not be deleted from your credit history.

CALL THE CREDITORS OR THE REPORTING AGENCY. SOMETIMES THEY STAY ON THERE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. THERE ARE ALSO SERVICE AGENCIES THAT WILL REMOVE THEM FOR A FEE, ABOUT 500.00. THEY WILL CALL AND DO ALL THE LEG WORK TO REMOVE THEM. GOOD LUCK!

They can't be removed unless they are older than seven years. If they are seven years or older, then you can call the credit reporting agency to have them removed. But you've got to call all three

Removing anything from your credit report is hard. Easpecially if it is valid, but easier if it is not.

My recommendation (which I have seen work first hand) is dispute "anything" negative on your credit report, valid or invalid.

Anyone reporting to the credit bureaus must provide proof of accounts and past due balances, plus the must respond within 30 days or the credit bureau must remove it.

Dispute that the account was ever yours. You will probably get a response back within 30 days saying that the company says it is valid. Immediately write the credit bureau again and dispute. You may be able to work the time period law into your favor, being that the company might think that this dispute letter is a duplicate and not respond to the second, third or fourth letter you initiate.

If this does not work, (as it is not guarenteed) you can always add remarks to your credit report stating that this account is not valid and was never yours. This way does not change your file or score but is helpful when other lenders pull your credit report and see that you have written the bureau(s) and dispute the account.

DO NOT GO TO ANY PLACE THAT GUARENTEES A NEW OR CLEAN CREDIT REPORT THEY ARE SCAMS AND ONLY DO THE THINGS I LISTED HERE.

I know because I use to have one of those websites lol

i know and its really easy pay the dam thing

You can call all credit bureaus, but I suggest to first get a free copy of all credit bureaus. Then, check what is on your report that needs to be charged off and write or call the agency to let them know. They will work with you and remove all negative ratings off your report. Always check your report once every 6 mos to 1yr to inspect for fraud. If so, make a police report and then send copy to all of negative unknown ratings on your report.

I found a solution that worked for me. It might work for you too.

I had some pretty serious credit problems…some were not my fault and, I guess, a few were. I listened to the so-called “experts” who said they could fix my credit report and I spent money I didn’t have. I didn’t have any luck trying to get my credit report fixed.

I remember paying for the services that these Credit Repair Companies had to offer. The companies told me that they could have negative items removed from my credit reports without any problem, Yeah, right. This did not happen at all. Most of the companies wanted to charge me a set up fee anywhere from $39 to $299 for their services. Not only did they charge this set up fee, most of them also wanted to charge me from $29 to $49 monthly while they “attempted” to repair my credit report. These companies offered no guarantee that their services would actually work and, believe me, they didn’t.

I was about ready to give up when I found a lady who had been through the same thing and who had found a solution. She figured out how get all the negative items removed from her credit report within 3 months without paying anyone a penny. She developed a fast, easy, step-by-step process that she guarantees will work for everyone. She sells the complete plan with all the help and instructions for $47.00.

I know what you are thinking…”another $47 down the drain,” and that’s kind of what I was thinking too. But, I figured that since she offers a 100% money back guarantee I had nothing to lose.

Well, I tried it and it was amazing. I got all of the negative items removed from my credit report and my credit score went from 553 to 715 in only 3 months. All I can say is that it worked great for me. I suggest you check it out. You can always get your money back if it doesn’t work for you. If it works even half as well for you as it did for me you will never even think about asking for a refund.
