I've read in the past about companys who can reset your credit rating' however I am sure some of these are scams. I am 26 and am unable to obtain any sort of credit due to my credit history during my student years. Does anyone know of any genuine UK based companies that can actually reset my credit? |

Here in the US, there is no quick fix. You have to rebuild it. If you've made mistakes in the past, they can take 7 years for a negative reporting to 10 years for bankruptcy. Your best bet is to monitor your credit and pay things on time. Keep track of your spending habits. If you can't afford it, don't put it on credit. Also, don't go cleaning out your accounts by closing ones you don't regularly use. Credit history is a major part of determining creditworthiness. The longest open account establishes the begining of your history. Check out annualcreditreport.com. It's a free service for your credit history. But, you will have to pay for the score. You should not pay just for the report. Those services are just taking you for a ride. |

Yes they are scams, you credit can improve with you paying things on time and clearing any oustanding debts and not waste money on these companies |

In the US, you can't reset your credit. You just have to clean it up over time. Usually 7 years. |

Nothing can reset your credit - there is companies that advertise but they only want you to pay them some money but it is illegal for them to remove it. Check the GMTV website, Martin Lewis he gives some good advice regarding credit and he will tell you the same as I have about it being illegal. |

There is no such thing, although there are some places that will sell you fake official looking forms to send someplace.
Sometimes, this involves your sending wrong information to places. This can be called credit fraud and make you a criminal, which is more trouble than the original credit report.
Think about it. If credit could be reset, then everybody would do it just before they apply for a loan and credit reports would be worthless. |

Although I don't recommend it, you could hire a lawyer and go through bankruptcy to clear your credit and it doesn't take 10 years.
A family I know of has done this two times within the last several years because of careless use of credit. |

you cant re-set your credit!!!!! dont fall for any scams!!!!
If you want to do a full credit check for free, go to www.Experian.co.uk. Then if there are any results you disagree with, you can phone the company and ask them to change it, but the chances are, they wont, unless for example people have been applying for loans in your name etc.
At the end of the day, your credit check is there, just like a criminal check and will follow you for the rest of your life. Looks like your student life has resulted in your problems. |
