mallard guy 2 | How can furniture companies offer no payments and no intrest until 2010? Is there some "fine Print? |
|

Yeah! Outside of a set that cost you 1,100 cost them 300 or 500 to get. By the time you finish fiancing it would have cost you like 5,500 and some change. In the fine print is the higher interest rates and the fact that it usually doen't include taxes, and delivery plus automatic extended warranty (which is very useless in certain situatiions.)
Bottom line: Any deal that you enter with no payments til so and so is not making you a rich person it also is a scheme to lully you into purchaing more furniture then you can afford thinking that the payment would be far away. |

Yes, If you do not pay in full by 2010, all the interest accrued from the time you bought the furniture will be added to the new balance. Make sure you pay in full on time, don't be a day late if you can help it. Most time that interest is 30-31%, do the math if the furniture cost you 1,000 if you have not paid that in full it would almost triple in cost! |

They offer it, becuase they let interest accumulate during the time period hat payment aren't made. So in 2010, not only do you have he original balance, you have 3.5 years of interest building up.
Unless you may payments during the 'free period", and have it planned to be payed off before the 2010 deadine-- itis not woth it. |

it may say no interest until 2010? What that typically means thoug his you will be accumulating interest during the next 4 years if you do not pay on time. There will be lots of fine print. It is best to use one of your own credit cards. There are several 0% cards out there for folks with good credit try one of those. |

I just bought some furniture with deal like the one mentioned, so I am glad I read this. I had planned to pay it all off before the "free" period was over, but now I will make sure to! |

They offer you no payment or interest DUE until 2010. If you wait until then to start making payments, they will ADD ALL THE INTEREST to the final loan amount. Offers like these are another way of saying 'if you pay us the cost of the furniture BEFORE 2010, you pay only the price of the items, if you wait until 2010 to start paying, we will charge you interest for the loan plus the interest from now until 2010'. So, in essence, it is a great way to buy if you REALLY plan on paying off the loan BEFORE 2010. That's how I bought mine. |

The fine print is that you have to have good credit to get it - then you get slammed with interest - high rate in 2010 and if you miss a payment the fine print often reads that you then have to pay interest for the time you had payments defer (like retroactive back to 2006) |

Think of "0 % and no payments for..." as a form of Russian roulette. As long as you pay off the balance within those terms, you have survived the loaded chamber.
Statistically, you will lose. Everyone who takes advantage of an offer like that plans to capitalize on it, but than, life happens.
My advise is, set up an automatic bill pay to this account, calculated to pay the balance off a month before the end of the term. Beware that some "fine print" could back charge you all the interest accrued during the life of the contract on the entire beginning balance |
