It is almost necessary to have a credit card in todays economy...you cannot use a debit card as a credit card, so you will not be able to rent a car, secure a motel room, etc. without a real credit card. Put together 500.00 and put it into a savings account with 'Capitol One." They will then issue you a credit card for 500.00 credit...that is enough to rent cars, etc. Do NOT use this card if you cannot pay off the balance monthly, as the interest rates are ridiculous. But do use it, just pay off the balance immediately. You can do this online by paying out of your checking account. Good luck |

You might want to try removing negative information from you credit report first, even if it is true you can still dispute it. |

You'll probably find some company that will take a chance on you, and if you get behind a few days with your payments the finance charges will knock your socks off.
The best advice I can give you is don't get a credit card. Get a bank account with a debit card that you can use like a credit card so you can have the convenience without going into debt. |

I ruined my credit in college, and I accidentally found a great way to repair it. Go to the store and find a magazine, any magazine, and subscribe to it. Check the "Bill Me Later" option. Then when the bill comes, pay it immediately, cash. After you do that, just sit back and wait. The credit card offers will start rolling in. They will have APRs of, like, 30%, with purchase limits of probably $300 to start with,but at least you'll have one. Every month, or every time you get paid, when you have money in your pocket, go to the store and buy a soft drink and candy bar on it. Then pay it IMMEDIATELY when you get the bill. Do this every month, and eventually, your credit limit will be up to around $1,000. This worked for me, and in a little over 10 years, I have taken my credit rating from an F to a B+. It may even be higher now, I haven't checked in about 3 years, but this is what I did to salvage my credit, and it has worked great. |
