kingsmasterx2 | How can i build my credit? |
I am young and have been trying to establish some type of good credit. Besides the normal- renting an apartment, buying a car, having bills in my name, making sure i pay on time, and applying for credit cards (which Im denied anyway because i have either insufficient credit history or insufficient income) is there another way for me to build my credit? I do not have anyone to cosign anything for me which is another big issue-because there are no car loans or general loans without a cosigner! Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Go to your bank. I used to get very small loan with no cosigners, like no more than $500, and just keep the money to pay the loans, plus interest of course, but it worked. |

pay your bills on time and keep doing that for a long time, your credit will build up |

You might try getting an in store account like for buying furniture or a stereo, cloths, etc. Make your payments on time and take the full term of the credit to pay it off, even if you have the money to pay the whole thing off. Just make sure you are not late with any payments and when you are through paying it off, you have perfect credit. One thing to remember though, every time you apply for a credit card it takes away from your credit score, so unless you are positive that you can get the card don't apply for it. |

Ok in order to build credit you need a credit card. Maybe you are being denied because you are applying for ones that require good credit. Most people I know got their credit card from Capital one the platinum mo credit credit card. You have to pay on time every month and only use it for emergencies. What you need to remember is that you are using someone elses money.
Edit:
About the answer below me, getting a cellular phone doesn't help because they do not report to credit buraues.
Good luck! |

getting good credit takes quite a while. you need to have a lot of patience. i know exact;y how you feel without a co-signer because none of my family members have credit. as long as you build your credit its best to not have a co-signer anyways. if you can do it yourself its better. with that, your not putting anyone else's credit on the line "if" anything were to go wrong. But, like these people said, get a dept. store credit card and use it a few times and pay it on time. NEVER go over your limit! by the way, theres something called "no established credit", meaning you may have had a credit card or 2 but your credit takes about a good year to show up. be wise! credits important.! good luck! |

The only way to "build credit" is to borrow money and make payments on time. The only way to keep your score high is to keep borrowing money and keep making payments on time. It's an "I Love Debt" score.
It keeps you in debt.
Building credit is the biggest joke of the 21st century.
If you pay as you go. If you live on less than you make. You will not have payments. You will have money and not have to worship at the alter of the great fico. |

have you tried something like a sears card or a clothing store card.. then use it once or twice, but make sure you pay it off. you will start to build credit like that |

Open a bank account or go to your present bank and request a secured credit card. Use it to make purchases and pay off the balance at the end of each month. With time your score will increase. |

I understand your situation as I have been there before. Having no established credit is as bad as having no credit. You should try to get a cell phone in your name, even if you have to pay a down payment, get one so you can establish a pay history and then pay it on time. Some places will give you minimum credit if you are a student a a college, or if you can borrow some money from a college like student loans, this helps you simply because they see you are in college.Order you a magazine subscription and pay it on time, or join some type of thing like a book club and then pay it on time. Try and apply for one of those small loans of like $200 so that it will establish credit, pay it out as soon as you can and then borrow again. Once you establish credit you want to keep the last thing you paid out revolving, meaning go and borrow again and each time you pay it out you will increase your rating. It is really hard getting credit without someone co signing, except for cell phones.... This is the first step because they report to the credit bureau and it will show you have some type of pay history.
Without any income, or job you will probably be unable to have anyone trust you with credit. I hope this helps/ |
