Have you tried working with those you owe money to? Many times, if you just call and explain that you are willing, yet unable to pay off the bills, they will work with you on the debt. Sometimes by lowering the total debt, sometimes by reducting interest rates. Sometimes by removing penalities and fees associated with non payment.
By the way, I think it's great that you'd rather pay for your debts than file for bankruptcy. Too many times, people just give up and file instead of toughing it out and paying their dues. You'll feel so proud of yourself in the end. Good luck!

First you have to sit down and figure out how much you owe on your debts and your bills that you pay from month to month after you figure this out you have to see how much you have left over from your pay checks to be able to set up a payment arrangement with your debt collectors they will let you make payments, I also know that they take a settlement amount which is half of what is owed....GOOD LUCK

If you have a car sell it before the collection Agency takes it.
If you don't have a car. Drop me a line.

I'm afraid that you can't have your cake and eat it to. Those are pretty much the only two options.

Creditors will often settle for 50% of what you owe, or will set up payment plans. Be tough with them, but respectful. Thats your absolute best option.

I also think a consolidation loan might do the trick. You don't give much information for us to go by.

Just be warned that if you go with a consolidation loan, you MUST stop buying on credit, and get your budget in order. This is exactly how thousands of people went bankrupt over the past couple of years. Refinancing, consolidating, getting balance roll-overs to new cards...they are all traps.

It just depends how bad you want to clean your credit up. I used to work for a debt settlement company and our program worked. We would tell your creditors you were working with us and you would save some money each month until you had a certain percentage for that creditor and we would negotiate a settlement for you and you would pay it off. Beware of some debt settlement companies, some are in it just for the money. Just one option.

Try incharge.com. This program works great!

There are some companies that consolidate debts. Like Debtescape (my coworker's telling me)
They have deals with credit card companies like discover and if you owe discover, they will reduce your APR to Zero. You pay Debtescape like $30/month. AND the credit card bills that you consolidate with Debtescape will be cut off, so you CANNOT use those cards anymore.
