If this is your first credit card, expect to pay higher interest and some additional fees. Until you build some credit history and improve your credit score, you'll have to settle for offers like these: http://www.wowcreditcards.com/bad-credit.htm
Although these offers may not seem attractive when compared to 'standard' credit cards (for good credit), you won't have many choices until you get your credit established. They key is regular on-time payments. Don't exceed 50% of your available credit and always pay on-time! |

With no credit history it's best to open up a secured credit card. Basically the bank will lend you a credit line based upon the the deposit you place up for collateral. Example if you place $400 in a savings account they will match your credit line of $400....and usually give you a "trial period." After maybe 12 months or so of positive payment history they will give you back your $400 and it will become unsecured. Then this will report the bureaus as credit history therefore giving you the opportunity to get other means of credit. |

my first credit card was from "1st financial bank"
i would highly reccomend getting a credit card from them first and paying off the balence every month.
then in a few months apply for another card that will give you a higher credit line.
they were the only company that would approve me when i was trying to get a credit card
