Depends how bad your credit is. Orchard bank offers credit cards for people with bad credit. You can also get a secured credit card, where you put money aside and can only spend up to what you have. Your best bet is to get your credit fixed. I had terrible credit and got it repaired by working with Unified Credit Services. There are other companies out there that do this type of work, but be careful which one you work with. After that, you can start rebuilding your credit. If you work with Unified, they will tell you some of the ways to do it... Orchard bank was what they suggested to me after I got my credit fixed. |

I use to have bad credit..it is now fair (620) and I had one with First Premier Bank and Orchard Bank...as someone else said the fees especially for First Premier Bank are ridiculous!!!
Today I applied for Capital One Standard Platinum Card which is for people with limited credit history and/or credit that needs improvement and I was approved - I realize the limit will be low but I'm trying to re-establish for your case if it's bad like you say then try Orchard - they have fees but no where near First Premier.
FYI When I got my First Premier Bank card my limit was $300 and when I got my first bill it was $172 and I hadn't even used it...this was just fees (set-up, annual, etc) I canceled that card before I used it!!!! |

SheilaB is right, capital one does have a credit card for bad credit, i got it myself, and i just turned 18 a few months ago, so thus, no credit. it however does NOT have outrageous fees, its only a 29 dollar per year fee. most are over 200 a year, so i would NOT say it is bad. I would not try to apply for a credit card in the "fair" section, however, because it is likely that you will get denied, then you'll just have an inquiry on your credit report, which will hurt your score and any chance of getting anything else. |

It's not so much being denied, it's the inquire...so you have to be careful about asking for credit. It doesn't make sense that it hurts your credit score by asking for credit...but too many inquiries will.

capitalone has a card that is not to bad. But don't apply for a bad credit card go up to the one for fair, I think. Bad credit cards have fees out the butt. But if go up to the next level you can avoid those fees. They do not have high limits but you can ask for it to be adjusted every 3 months as long as you are on time. |
