For starters, do not go to any of these credit "repair" companies. They are scams.
Want proof? Ask them to give you a written guarantee that they will fix your credit. You won't get one.
The reason is very simple. There are only two ways to get a negative report removed from your credit history. 1) The creditor must delete it, 2) The creditor fails to respond to a investitation request from the credit bureau.
When you hire one of these "repair" companies, all they do is send out letters, file complaints, and attempt to convince the creditor to delete the report. Sometimes this may involve paying the creditor a "bribe" to do it.
And even after doing all of this, there is no guarantee that the report will be deleted.
But you can do all of this yourself! You just need to do some research and understand how the Fair Credit Reporting Act works.
So read the links below. If you need more advice, contact me. |

The company is called Experian - when you have your credit history scored - it tells you why it's been scored that way and what to do to imrpove it. |

It depends upon what the problems are with your credit history and upon what timescale you need the improvement. If there are errors on your file then set about correcting these. There are 3 agencies in the UK that provide credit reports. Each agency may have different information. Any agency might be used to provide a reference so you would need to contact each one. If you have not history of credit then get one! Use credit cards but only for payments - not to accumulate debt! |

Lots of people say Experian, but just for fun I had a couple of quidsworth of their 'expertise' three years ago; At that time, simply for convenience, I had a number of different credit cards (nothing naughty or anything like that) for various useage, and when my results came through, the only debt it showed I had was for the one company that I paid by direct debit every month, so it was the most likeliest to get paid first, yet none of the others were even mentioned on the report. As it happens, I work on the strict principle that no cc company is EVER going to get any interest out of me, so I pay the bills the very day they come in, so I'm never really in debt, but for all Experian knew (or reported) I could have been owing thousands all over the place! |

NO company can help improve your credit history (those are scams to gain lots of money from gullible people), only YOU can do the work yourself. This means responsible Credit Usage, paying your bills on time, living within your income, and making sure that YOU are never late on your payments. |

There are many credit repair services. I would suggest one who is listed with the BBB online. You can do this yourself, but it takes a lot of time and professional writing skills. The government will tell you that you should do it yourself, but it is a long, hard road, and if you don't do it right, you are accused of making frivolous claims and then the CRA's don't even have to help you.
pianojono lives by a good principal, but the problem with cc's is that most who have them do not have the cash to pay the entire bill when it comes. And if you use if for emergencies (car repair), chances are the average worker will not be able to pay the entire bill.
Check the link below and read the details of the one that suits you. They are a little costly, but in the long run it is worth it. |

Go to Experian and view your credit history. I think this costs a couple of quid, but worth it. From there, you will have to write to your creditors to explain your current financial situation, and they will advise you how to pay off your debts and have any bad history sorted. You will find help from the CAB who will probably do this for you or at least advise you. Good luck xx |

There is no such company. Any company that says they can especially if they will charge you, is a collection of daylight robbers!! All you have to do is try and make sure that for now, every credit that you get is paid bang on time - try direct debits. Even if you get a credit card with a credit limit of £100 and you spend £5.00 every month and pay it off on time, it'll be recorded on your history. Also, your bank accounts' activities are recorded so make sure you keep in line. It's a long painful process but worth it in the end so do not pay anyone to make your credit history report better!!!! |

It depends on what is on your file. If the things are incorrect then you can get them changed, if not then you are stuck. You will have to slowly build back your credit.
Get one of those pre-pay credit cards, they help. Get a mobile phone on contract (I have sh!t credit and got one by paying a deposit of £100), make sure you pay everything on time.
Dont apply for any credit, as this makes your history worse. |
