Use the free request site for a copy of all three reports. You got to know where you stand to make a start on the journey of repair.
Review each report and dispute anything that is not accurate. I raised my score 100 pts by disputing items that was not correct.
You may not be able to clear by you can start to rebuild.
Next step get a secured visa/or Mastercard. Make a small purchases every month and pay over the minimum due on time. after 6 months request a credit limit increase, after a year apply for an unsecured card and close the secured card.
Take small loans against your savings account. Pay on time and pay off 2 months ahead of schedule.
Small credit worthiness will build to large credit worthiness. Do it slow so you will not get in trouble and make things worse. |

If you've already got a bad credit record, you have to clear the backlog and then wait for it to go off your record. (Purplemoon tells you what to do if you have a judgement against you.) You can get a good credit record, even if you still have a debt, as long as you are paying it off according to the lender's expectations. It's when you stop paying the debt, that you get a bad credit rating.
But if you have a debt which you're finding difficult to clear, it's really important to (1) pay it off systematically, (2) not add to it with new buying on credit, and (3) not allow bank charges to make it worse. Sometimes bank charges for failed direct debits or bounced cheques can cost you more than the actual interest on your debt. There are debt counselling agencies which give free advice. One agency is called CAP: www.capuk.org |

apart from pay it off.
well wait 6 years after paying it up to date for the overdue payments to fall off the reporting period in your credit history then new lenders will be none the wiser. |

Bad credit is one of the worst problems to have... however there exists a solution.
I will hereby talk from my personal experience.
I did debt consolidation a couple of years ago, however If I had to do it again I would pay to some minor details,
if someone wants to get out of debt today it is pretty easy with a debt consolidation plan, however it may get a bit tricky at times, I suggest you get as much information as possible online on this first,
a good place to start in my humble opinion is a straight to the point ebook with question and answer I found :
http://umgarticles.atspace.com/debt-consolidation.htm
if it helps kindly remember me in your voting!.. cheers! |

You have to pay back the monies you owe. If you have been taken to Court and been given a CCJ( County Court Judgement) when the debt has been paid back in full, you must apply to the court to get a certificate of satisfaction. This is to prove to future lenders,i.e a mortgage lender that you have definitely paid in full. Once this has been done you will then be considered again for mortgages etc,.
If the debts that you have against you are through a debt collector, then again the monies have to be paid in full. You will have to ask them for a receipt that the debt is paid in full as proof for future credit.
Your credit history usually shows the last 6 years.
Bankruptcy appears for 10 years.
I hope this helps. |

Most of the time negative accounts will stay on your record for 7 years. However, you can dispute accounts that you feel are inaccurate and if the reporting agency finds in your favor then it will be removed. Of course making your payment on time is probably the single most important thing you can do to improve your credit. On my answers profile you'll find a link that can help you repair your credit. |

It does take time but the best way to better your credit is to pay everything on time EVERY TIME. Most people get bad credit because they don't realize how even 1 late payment can affect their score.
Start paying everything on time every time and you'll start to see changes.
Open a credit card. Start with one. Having credit available to you will help your score. If you use it, and pay on time, your score will go up.
Good luck! |

You can't clear bad credit but you can work on it. Only time removes bad things from your credit report. Get one credit card and make full paymemts for a year. Take like 10.00 and pay it in full just to establish your history. |
