try applying at a couple fo stores where you shop, they tend to be less dicrimintating. Macy's gave me my first card at 18.
Also capital one and providian tend to give cards to almost anyone, but with very high interest rates, so make sure you stay on top of those bills or you will ruin your credit before you establish it.
Don't apply to too many though, because each inquiry with a denial lowers your credit score.

Many young people run into that problem when they first apply for a card. Check with your bank. If you have an account in good standing and pay any bills on time, that makes it easier. |

you can by eitehr getting one of those Pre-approved credit cards in teh mail if you get them.
that .. or you get a cosigner for a loan. |

get a pre approved entry level card ( usually have high interest rates) from a creditor, even if its a store card. Use it pay and then pay your bill in full monthly to build up your credit score so you can apply for a card with a much better(lower) interest rate |

Well first you need to be 18 years or older, and if you go to school, you can start off by getting and student credit card by going to their website and apply for it. In all honesty and with experience, I'll tell you that credit cards are evil because if you abuse it, it can screw you up so bad, being in debt and such, If you do use a credit card, use it only if have no cash, and make sure to make it off quick or finance charge will mess you up. |
