I agree with godged, speak with the hospital to see if they will waive a portion of the amount.
Also, hospitals have lists of different charities that aid low income or uninsured people, ask them about getting help.
Then if they reduce the amount and/or find a charity to help, try to set up a payment schedule you can afford. |

If the hospital was a "not for profit" facility, then they are required to funnel any excess funds they accumulate back out into the community. If the hospital was a "for profit" hospital, then you need to go to your county or state and see if maybe social services can help you on this one. |

Best bet is to go BK. You can rebuild your credit pretty quickly. |

Wow, that really sucks big time. I would suggest getting a low interest government loan to pay the bill, and gradually pay off what you can until your financial situation improves. |

Ask them if you can work out some reduced rate for services. I'm sure they charged you the full boat.
60 Minutes did a story on this awhile back, and they learned that many hospitals inflated the charges to the uninsured.
It is unlikely they will charge it off, but see if you can get them to lower the bill to an amount you can pay and if they will accept small monthly payments. |
