I replied to a pop up: 06/05/07..You have won a free vacation good for 1 year from Summer Bay Resorts. at 888-782-9847 FL . Since our group of Landsailers sail 2x per year at Ivanpah Lake, Primm in NV and stay at their resort the idea sounded good. The sales rep requested my credit card information. I did not realize immediately that $498.00US was debited out of my credit account without my authorization.
I was supposed to get : 3 days with 2 FREE Nights on arrival with a presentation..Then, IF INTERESTED pay . I specified that our group comes to Las Vegas for the purpose of teaching persons with disabilities the art of Landsailing during the months of Spring and Fall, we are MAALSF -MID AMERICAN ADAPTIVE LANDSAILING FOUNDATION. NON PROFIT. Also, needing accomodation for November, 7/07 (our group) flight and hotel reservations are now reserved for elsewhere. There is no communication from Summer Bay for a refund. I did not authorize any debit on 06/05/07. I sent correspond |

Send a letter certified to this vacation outift reminding them that you did not authorize such a charge.
Then write to your credit card company about this occurrence.Enclose a copy of any correspondence you have tried with this 'Summer Bay Resorts'. It is up to the credit card company to investigate the charges. Until then, you do not have to pay these charges. Once the credit card company investigates, they will repsond to you.

Disput the charge with your bank. Go online, there should be an option to dispute the charge, and usually the money is put back with in two or three days. But I would change the card number afterwards. |

Did you dispute the charge IN WRITING with your credit card issuer? That might work. Other than that, you're probably out of luck.
Many telemarketers lie, unfortunately, or just don't tell you the real details of their "offer". |

Did you notify your credit company? If not you need to do so..
THEN never give any info to pop or email. Hopefully you just learned a cheap lesson. |

Notify your credit card company. Anyone who might be knowledgeable there may be able to instruct you on what needs to be done. I think that once you gave her the cc info, you basically authorized her to charge something without knowing it. It would be good if you had any written correspondence that we could see, looking at the fine print.

You should have disputed the charge when it first appeared on your statement. It's now past 60 days and your credit card probably won't be able to help you. You could try.
You probably will have to hunt down the company and sue them for the refund.
This is a pretty expensive lesson about clicking on pop ups. |

And thats why you NEVER EVER EVER believe ads online, specially the pop up ones. They're mostly scams... Be careful what you click on and check out a website before you trust it. A few good things to check for when on a site is a trusted logo (thats from an actual trust authentication site) and hacker safe tested logos.... And never trust a site you were redirected to automatically at random... If you didn't click to get there, you prolly don't wanna be there!!! (Google's search also now helps filter out badware sites too) |

When you gave your credit card number, you gave authorization is what I'm getting here. Check business out BEFORE you agree for any pop up ad. High pressure sales are crap. |
