Yes you can. If you still have the proof that it was paid - the receipt, cancelled check then yes. I would start by calling the phone company and asking them why they still have that bill as unpaid when it was paid. It has to be the phone company who takes the charge off your credit report - since they put it on. Hound them every day until they get it taken care of. |

It is not going to work. You made a mistake by paying them off. The record is going to stay for another 3 years - total 7 years...If you didn't pay them a penny for 4 years, you may not need to pay them at all...check statue limitation in your state...they ruined your credit any way for 7 years no matter of what...I would pay them nothing and wait for 7 years over...start a new life... |

I just bought a house and had to go through this. I called the company that said that I had the delinquent account and asked them to send me a letter stating that the account was paid and that the delinquency should be expunged from my credit report. I sent the letter to the credit bureau and it was fixed. I believe my lender used something called a "Rapid Rescore" to get me a new score without the delinquency on it. My score shot up! |

You can write all of the letters you want but it is going to stay on your credit for 7 years. It is going to show as paid but it was a bad account so it is going to stay on your credit report, just the good stuff is not all that is in your credit report. If it is still showing that you owe the than yes get a letter from the creditor and send it to each reporting agency and they will take it off. |

Mimi is an idiot, you most certainly can. They don't have to stay on for 7 years when paid. Most of the time once you pay an old bill the company will report it to the creditor and the creditor will will contact the credit bureau that it was reported to and the bureau will usually take it off or if it's an installment at least report it is paid in full and closed or being paid, which is way better for you when your report is pulled up from a place that might offer you a credit line or loan, if not you can use a company like Lexington Law firm. They help get delinquent accounts off from the credit bureaus on a daily basis. 7 years is usually the statue of limitations for going after someone with UNPAID bills and will stay on the credit report when left UNPAID. LLF has gotten 3 old accounts taken off from the 3 bureaus for me a few of months after I had paid them. So again you guys saying you can't are very wrong! |
