As mentioned, all of your debts SHOULD be listed on your credit report. But only those that actually report them. If you have an unpaid debt that wasn't reported, you will never know until they finally contact you.
If you get your credit report, and the name/address of the creditor is not listed, or isn't responding you you, then dispute the entry with the credit bureau. They are required to investigate the accuracy of this report. If it comes back and is verified, request that the credit bureau supply you with a "Description of reinvestigation procedure", which outlines who they contacted and the contact information. |

If you get a copy of the credit report in question, the debtor info should be listed along with contact info. By law, you can pull a free copy of your reports from Experian, Equifax and Transunion (the 3 bureaus) once per year. Go to annualcreditreport.com and they will walk you right through it. If the debt info is in error, immediately follow the bureau's instructions for disputing/verifying the credibility of the reported debt. Good luck! |

if they are not telling you who they are representing, i wouldnt bother with them. Its the law for them to tell you so its probably a scam. |

Get a hold of the three that keep track of it:
Experian
Equifax
Trans-Union
Go on line and get your reports from them. They are free. Don't pay for it. They will send information in the mail and show you how to understand the report and how to handle disputes etc.
Don't take the insults seriously on here. I myself have had things show up on those reports that weren't mine, and medical bills are terrible. When you have insurance coverage and receive nothing different from the medical supplier, (Doctor) and months later find that there was part of the procedure that wasn't covered. Yes, the insurance company never notified you...There are always things that can happen to your credit report that you aren't aware of. Stay on top of it! |
