londa627 | How do I go about fixing my credit report? |
Besides paying current bills on time, do you have any suggestions that will help me get my score up? |

I went through the same thing you did, this is what you do.
1) Get a copy of your credit report!!!!
2) All the bills on your credit report that states past due, those are the bills that you need to really to worry about.
These past due bills is what is killing your credit report.
Don't worry about the other one until later, credit cards and banks don't really pay any attention to ones that are not past due.
3) There are usually an address and almost always a phone number, that you can contact.
4) Make arrangements with them to pay off the past due bill, just remember allot of the times they will be willing to knock off a % of the bill to get it paid off.
5) Then always, always make sure you get a recept.
6) Then try to get a prepaid credit card, or a small load witha co-signer, pay it off on time and it can take up to a year but you will find that it will give you outstanding credit.
Just remember that the bills you pay off will take up to three months to clear from you credit report, if you don't see it come off contact the creditors agency.
Just remember it dose take some time but it is never to late to fix anyones credit report.
Good luck, it is alot of work. |

According to some experts, you can dispute anything on your credt report even if you legitimately owe it or not and whoever it is has 30 days to show that you owe it and if they don't come up with something they legally have to take it off of your credit report whether you really owe it or not. |

Your credit score is based mostly on:
1. Length of credit history
2. Payment history.
3. Ratio of credit used to available credit.
4. Number of credit inquiries you authorized.
If you cancel your card, you'll be hurting your credit ratio. (#3).
You want to deliberately keep your oldest credit card open, even if you never use it.
You want to always pay the minimums of each loan on time every month.
You want to keep your available credit high, but actually only have balances equalinig 25% or less.
You want to keep your credit inquiries to a minimum. Try for no more than 3 or 4 per year for any type of loans.
You do these things and your credit score will quickly soar into the 700s.

I'm not familiar with your credit history.. but some tips are..
Minimize your credit accounts(debt to income ratio). Close unecessary accounts. Try and keep one for a long period of time. If you have large amounts in an account that can effect your credit so lower it if possible. Paying something to half the original balance or less raises it. Try using a credit card to buy gas and wait till the end of the month or due date and pay off your balance in full. |

Of course, always pay bills on time.
1. Consolidate debt into one or two credit card accounts, if possible, and close any accounts that you don't need. The fewer open credit card accounts you have, the better.
2. Order copies of your credit report from all the credit reporting agencies. Scrutinize the report and report any inaccuracies you may find. I've seen many times where information was reported incorrectly, and once reported, it will be verified and removed from the report. This will have an almost immediate impact on your score.
3. Try to pay down your debts as much as possible. The lower your debt is, the better your score will be. You get a boost in your credit score when you pay off debt; credit issuers like to see debts paid off, so aside from paying on time, try to pay off what you can.
4. Again, pay all of your bills on time.... it will take a while to build up a good history, but if you pay on time, then eventually your credit score will go up. |

Screw credit reports. Learn to live on cash. You'll be wealthier, and happier. Need a car? Buy a used one with cash, and keep saving for something nicer. Need a mortgage? Well, save 20%, of the home price you want. No bank is going to chase away 20%!! They have security built into the loan they give you. Good things happen to those who wait(save). |
