My boyfriend of five years moved back in with his family last year. They put the electric in his name which he later found out was a HUGE MISTAKE. They moved out of state and left him with an electric bill of $1,600. He's tried to pay small payments on it but gave up when the interest collected and didn't make a difference in his payments. Now it's in collections. And he doesn't pay on it AT ALL. He refuses to talk about it and he doesn't want to ask his family for money for it.

He asked his brother to return videos last year and his brother said he DID return them. Later he got a bill from the video store saying his balance was sent to collections. Turns out the movies were under a seat in his brothers car and he never returned them.

So my boyfriend has these two major things on his credit now. We talk about getting married but I can't help but see this as a major roadblock. I want him to have good credit so he can get loans and we can have a home and things together. I DON'T WANT TO PULL ALL OF OUR WEIGHT.

How can he transform his credit if it's already pretty much ruined? How do I make him realize that it's important!?!?!? I'm soooo frustrated.
