open a basic account most banks do them they do not require credit checks and you will still need valid ID to open a bank account and utitilty bills to prove your address without these you will be unable to open any bank account |

I recently tried to open an account with Halifax and I filled in form and sent it away with electric bill, council tax, bill and post office account statement, 4 weeks later they want more info (I have a bad credit rating) I didn't want a credit card just a basic savings account, 6 weeks and still waiting, I went to the local building society on Saturday with my passport and electric bill and got a basic savings account instantly. |

Not sure I understand what you mean by "limited forms of ID". You can either prove who you are or you can't. But that has really little to do with opening a Bank Account, and neither does your credit rating, because all it takes is to deposit some money. The bank risks nothing by allowing you to use your own money from the account, and it simply won't let you overdraw. If you write a check for more than you've got in there, the bank will bounce the check and hang a fine on you. If you run your account responsibly, over time your good reputation will grow.
Naturally, if you don't operate your account diligently, and keep overdrawing, the bank reserves the right to shut down your account and be done with you. |

Opening a checking or savings account isn't a big deal with your local bank. Just go in and go from there. |

I'm in the same boat as most banks now do credit checks even on basic accounts I'm screwed i cant get an account at all. i now have to use my dads for my wages. i feel for you. even with correct id you will struggle with bad credit. |
